I realised that it is a bit slow when change from potrait to landscape compared to the previous video (unwired) but the response from the panel and other functionality seems quite fast and smooth.
I wonder... what is the difference.

when i saw the video posted in engadget i was thinking what a disaster the phone is, seemed extremely slow.
if the device is really fast as the one in unwired then its definitely worth getting one.
i cant stand slow phones

So does anyone have any details of the Webcast for those of us who are awaiting for it to be posted? |

Very simple. The YOUTUBE video is done with an old ROM built. It is not yet optimized. Take a second look at the UNWIRED video. Read the text. It has a newer ROM close to final production. The improvement in speed is obvious.
from unwired.....
"I got my hands on an Xperia X1 as well. And while the device was still based on the pre-production hardware, the Windows Mobile ROM built was way newer, actually it was from early September and I was told that, even if not the release candidate, this Beta comes pretty close to what the final software should look...."

Hi WhyBy. You will get your toy soon.
The Webcast was not the circus we expected, It seemed improvised. out 34 minutes they took 15 minutes just talking about the Johnny-X commercial. They have a SE guy who's been using the Xperia for 7 month and spent most of the webcast just taking how Fine, Exclusive the Xperia is and the enphasis was on the Panels as a way to personalise the device, how progresively it matches your personality, the way you work the way you live. True but a lot of BS for every ones expectation.
The stupid thing is that the guy's phone is a very old version, so it was slow as you has seen before.
SE is very secretive for all questions about future version, WM7 etc were answered with "No comment at this time"
They confirmed increase in memory from 256 to 384mb, flash support, opera 9.5 . no TV ot, no tilt sensor, Battery use was compared to a small laptop lasting 1-2 days as opposed to 4hrs. Keyboard has dedicated key for different languages. Shipping to stores beginings right now.
Bottom line. Nothing that you don't now already. In fact the Unwired video is more exciting. Switching landscape/portrait is almost instantlaneous.
However the feeling left is : I GOT TO HAVE IT THIS IS SOMETHING UNIQUE

I like this sentence.
So, if it's shipping right now, does that mean that it'll be earlier than September 30th?

Well, who here would still buy an X1 if SE stopped supporting Windows Mobile in the Xperia brand after the X1? I have an article here, by way of Gizmodo, from Reuters that states that SE and the Xperia brand may not support Microsoft's OS after the X1's inaugural launch. I smell P990 like epic fluster cuck on the horizon...
here's the article if you're interested in reading it:

mine is already on pre-order, so even if Sony ericsson doesn't use MWM anymore, that wouldn't stop me from buying the Xperia.
I've always been a Sony fan ever since the playstation and most of my phones (well the only phone) are made by SE and from my experience, SE makes pretty nice phones.
So, regardless of what happens in the future, i'll always use SE phones. |

Increased again!? Are you serious they went to 384MB of RAM ? I wonder what purpose that would serve since 256MB seemed like more than enough. Even everything was running quickly and smoothly on a 128MB model. Perhaps they are making it WM7 ready.
Thanks Nimmyxhuynh for the link. I'll check it when I get the chance. |

Expansys.com has the handset for 584.99GBP (well 497.86GBP). I don't know why the two different prices but the one in the parenthesis is the price).
So if you live in the US, it'll come out to be ~$890USD + Shipping.
mobilecityonline.com has the phone for $999.99USD for pre-order. |
