K750 / W800 Firmware Overview |

Hi guys. Has anyone debranded the vodafone K750i yet?
I updated mine (vodafone live! K750i) but it is still voda. However, I got an idea...
I noticed that in the software-data folder under the sony ericsson update service folder (C:\Program Files\Sony Ericsson\Update Service\software-data) I have the following 2 files:
HL1_1250035-EU2-MR1_000000_0000_R1J002 (10,296,366 bytes) and
HL1_125953-VFE2-MR1_000000_0000_R1J002 (789,116 bytes)
now in the 2nd file, VFE = vodafone europe (i think). Can anyone who has an unbrabded k750i post the contents of his folder? I think the large file is the common firmware while the smaller file is the voda customisations. I guess if we exchange the voda customisation with the one for unbranded phones, we can unbrand it.
P.S. already tried deleting the VFE file and flashing it. Stops in the middle so i had to redo the update process :|
Please reply! and thanks!!!

You can't unbrand with the SEUS. You'll have to wait until the third-party loggers (e.g. DaVinci) support this phone.

Why not? SEUS does reflash the phone, so if we can fool it into reflashing with an unbranded firmware then we're home free. It also does not hurt to try... The worst that can happen is for the update process to stop, which means restarting the update to revert.
Has anyone tried the above? i.e. exchanging the voda cusomisation file with an unbranded one? It would really help if someone posted the contents of the mentioned folder (software-data) from an unbranded update, and if the size of the larger file match, then a good soul might email me the smaller file so i try it out and report back |

Hmm, I wonder if it is possible. Perhaps swapping the file but giving it the same filename. I would think, though, that the SEUS is a little more clever than that.

Well i hadn't had any of the problems besides the shortcut reset when turning off the phone. Glad to say that is fixed with the update, which i must admit was hastle free thanks to shiato_storm's pointers on page 22 of this thread.
Took a picture and notice the double sound beep for focusing.
It wern't broke, but i still fixed it and it all seems fine so far |

My phone is unbranded. Here's the content of the folder:
HL1_125952-EU1-MR1_000000_0000_R1J002, 10.640.537 bytes
HL1_125953-EU4-MR1_000000_0000_R1J002, 1.350.651 bytes
EDIT: You can contact me at MSN, crb012@hotmail.com, if you want me to send the files or something

After the update I can use the button on my HBH-600 bluetooth headset to hang up, answear calls and more.
I was not able to do this with the old firmware |

Mine is also unbranded. Here is what mine has:
HL1_125952-EU1-MR1_000000_0000_R1J002, 10,640,537 bytes
HL1_125953-EU3-MR1_000000_0000_R1J002, 1,282,639 bytes
I put them up at http://www.tc.umn.edu/~canf0015/se_firmware/
I also think it seems possible that as long as the main firmware is the same, that it should be possible to use a different customization file. I currently have a Europe_3 firmware from MyWorldPhone and would definitely like to get a different one so I can silent the annoying camera shutter. |

hehehe,
Watch out you dont screw up the EROM in new K750 phones. Also watch out for FOTA
Problem is that, your DCU-60 cables can utilize the FOTA part of flash meaning that you can only use that cable for Software Upgrade not decustomization. However, if the operator uses main firmware to customize the phone it is possible in theory. But decustomizing/Language changing with SEUS aint happening right now with these phones.
Because the platform sends bogus messages while charging, that is why!!!..But why this change of heart?..We sense a charger connected, oops, we will not shut down after all!!!..*********************** UI BASIC, HOLD YOUR HORSES

ok. Got the files. The large fil is not identical, so i revised my tactics
I restarted the update process in recovery, let it download the files, then swapped them with the unbranded files (after renaming like the previous ones...)
18% updated so far....

I searched for FOTA and you are the only person I saw that has mentioned it. What is that? I realize that flashing the phone with an incorrect firmware might disable the phone, but I am guessing it would be similar to having a failed update, you could use recovery mode to flash the correct firmware back.
