@ JN and Pepi,
Indeed they are sharp, hence my surprise as well from a relatively 'passe' (by today's standards anyway) 1.2mp cameraphone. Have to agree as well...
I have not 'doctored' the pics with Photoshop or anything...what would be the point of this thread if the pics weren't directly from the phone?
I don't suffer any insecurities that would make me feel that the pics I post need to be 'refined' prior to posting.
You can see that the carbon fibre ram air duct in the foreground isn't the 'sharpest', focus-wise.
Will post another pic or two in the near future.
WRT Mick Doohan, yeah what a legend. World champ 94-98. Met one of his arch-rivals of the time,Wayne Rainey, at Donington in 97, when he was managing the Yamaha GP team. A wheelchair did not deter the man's passion for the sport. Sete Gibernau and Norick Abe were in his team back then. Incidently, Mick won (again) that day.
He dominated just as Rossi does nowadays.
Those were the days...with Kevin Schwantz, Gardner, Lawson etc. also in the mix. |

@ama - Looks like you are very well versed with your MotorBike history pal, very well said pal ! Also, Max Biaggi was in the 250 cc category back then which later catapulted his career by joining the 500 cc class ! Some big-named-riders now started from the lower ranks, say, from 125 cc class and 250 cc. Though I am not that sure if Rossi started his career by joining the 125 cc group then Any idea when will the 2006 race start mate

@ JN,
Firstly, Rossi was in 125's then, and won on that same day as Mick did.
There's a famous pic of Rossi celebrating the win on that July '97 day, which features him up to his usual post-race antics. That year, due to the circuit's locality (very close to neighbouring UK county Nottingham), he climbed on the podium with a Robin Hood-type outfit, complete with bow and arrow etc.
Secondly, the first Moto GP of 2006 is in (probably!) the 'Mecca' of GP racing that is Spain, at the Jerez circuit on 10 April.

The second pic is of a road-legal Ducati 999, fully pimped-out and laced with carbon fibre and kevlar here, there and everywhere.
A very fast, expensive superbike, served with generous dollops of bling, topped with go-faster goodies and no bike licence preservatives...
Again, damn good for a 1.2mp phone. The lack of definition on the surrounding barrier 'ropes', front brake and clutch levers and on the Ohlins lower fork stanchions are slight giveaways.
These are the only 2 pics I took with the 3230 at the show. The rest of the pics were taken with our Olympus digital camera, which would thus be inappropriate to post here.
I recently sold my 2-wheeled pride and joy, which was a Kawasaki ZXR750K (RR), which were only built in limited numbers to meet race homologation rules.
Came with a close ratio box, aluminium tank and different compression ratio to the standard version. It also had the race Keihin flat-slide carbs and obligatory single-seat 'race' tailpiece. I never raced the bike, only used it on the road. The uncomprimising race nature of the bike made it a bugger in town and you had to watch out for people 'blipping' the throttle when the bike was parked, as it would flood the engine and then you had a real battle to get the thing running again!
We are in the process of buying property, so the money was needed at this stage, but rest assured I will be eyeing out another superbike during the latter part of 2006...
