Keeping in mind that Samsungs are at this moment the most popular mobile phone in the world (not the best, just most popular).
The D500 is a very well put together phone, although the shape doesn't suit some users (myself included.) And the camera is over hyped. To quote one user "The camera is POOR, don't be fooled by "Megapixel size", The amount of megapixels is not the only determinant of pic quality"
In truth it really is overpriced and over-rated.
But welcome to esato.

aghem

Over rated yes, maybe, over priced - they just dont depreciate as fast as nokias and se, as for size not my style as well because its bulky, small, but bulky, sticks out when in your pocket...

as for this camera . . . . . you got to see it for yourself bra...
no really its something else..... compared to K700 in capturing moving objects its excellent also no distortion if you shake and stuff.... the zoom is also better with no shutter click can get naughty again +92megs of space!!!

still a SE fan, i think it came out to rival the k700....

More likley rival the S700i...they are both 1.3mp camera's, wheras the K700 is 0.3 so it's not surprising that the samsung would have better quality. It does have a good amount of memory although i understand it to be 80MB.
Like i said as a phone in it's own right and not comparing feature for feature on a lesser phone(which the K700 is in terms of memory and camera.) the D500 just doesn't cut it for me.
And besides in this day & age you only have the best for one day..the next day it's obsolete.

Yes I understand that got a S700i, K700, D500 and this stupid Blackberry...

In terms of size and style... It does it for me.

but
"The camera is POOR, don't be fooled by "Megapixel size",

Theres nothing POOR bout this thing... give credit where credit is due... congrats to samsung... well on this phone only... the mp3 with the headsets is also louder... maybe coz its new...

SE should make something like this but a 3g version... Then we talking...

as for having the best today...... well iv always had thebest and latest well i SA at least... Daddy's got a V shop.

I seen the camera but that's not my quote, that's somebody who owns it....
But still I think that samsung make some of the most beautifull phone's out there... would have got myself an E700 if i was shallow enough and my fingers could press the buttons.

Having just seen the phone on billboards and viewed the specs on www.gsmarena.com I'd say it's good phone but the proof is always in the pudding.

If anyone is using the D500 please post some comments.

@Rhino...I'd be interested in the download speeds using your laptop coz I would assume it would be pretty slow on GPRS.

BTW heard that Telkom have fractionaly cut their ADSL costs.

@Rhino...111kb/s is quite fast for GPRS...how is that possible when consensus is that 56kp/s is pushing it via GPRS...have to say though my first taste of GPRS was when an MTN saleslady came round to my work trying to convince all of us that we needed GPRS phones and she made a fast connection using her laptop and connecting via a datacard(that was almost three years ago).
