That's normal even with the new firmware. The new firmware only improves the camera slightly... there's really not much of a difference - for sure! |

The reason that the update service has not got the newer firmware is because it has not been updated. SE are performing maintenance on it as it still corrupts firmware even though they say it never did (but they took the site offline for some time because of this reason) and now they are changing it again. Hopefully they can rectify the situation this time, as the previous attempt didn't help much! |

Well to all of you that own a Orange K700i. i have just today taken my phone in to the CPW and had the latest software installed on my phone.
As you can see the firmware is R2AC003.
This is not the latest the SE has released but is the latest Orange have approved to work on there phones.
What i can see so far.
The R2AC003 seems to be the same as R2AA003 but Oranges own version.
R2AC003 has none of the functions of the new R2AE033 version for other K700i phones.
The 2 second delay has gone on answering calls however and the menu system is much faster. Ver 3.9 is still the camera version and the shortcuts from the main screen hasnt gone.
The phone now sees a m4a file as music and stores it in the sounds folder, but will not play the music at all no matter what or how i go into it. You cant even assign it to become a ring tone.
I did question the software and spoke to the eng, he did say that Orange are about 1 month behind the others on the software.
I will however keep you updated as much as i can and if you have any futher questions let me know.

I don't know if this is old news... anyway:
With R2L001 (UPDATE: Vodafone R2V001 to be correct): When you choose to create a new message, the sort order is
MMS
SMS
With R2AE033 the sort order is:
SMS
MMS
Not much people might think... but for me who write a lot of messages (SMS) it's good news!
[UPDATE] Forget about this post - it had to do with the Vodafone branding. Thanks vee. Again you deliver facts!

@Cyber:
On my R2L001, the sort order is the reverse of what you suggest...

That's weird! I'm having one K700i with R2L001 right now that has the "MMS/SMS" sort order, and one K700i with R2AE033 with the reverse! Hmm! |

I have O2-branded k700i w/R2L firmware. My "new message" option lists SMS first, then MMS. Which is good, because my operator doesn't support MMS. Maybe it's operator specific, rather than firmware-version specific? |

I'm a "noob" and I really want to flash my k500 (i've flashed several nokia phones, but that's completely different....)
I don't know what things I need (like software, hardware ect...), since (http://www.sonyericsson.com/updateservice/K700/frameset.htm) didn't support k500i.
Does the dss-20 or dss-25 support k500i?
I need something "user friendly", if it exists.
Oh.. and .. another question: Will my settings/contacts/whatever be deleted if I flash the phone?

hehe, MMS first and SMS second is just a Vodafone way to make you spend more money on MMS ... exclusive in all Vodafone Live! handsets |

Yes! I was sitting with a Vodafone R2L001 (or R2V001 to be correct) and a native K700i flashed at Davinci with R2AE033 and noted the difference... I didn't thought that it had to do with the Vodafone branding... stupid me! |
