those mediatek chip doesn't really look that interesting anymore after tegra X1 announced, might have been more popular last quarter, looks like it doesn't support LDDR4 neither. Heard the GPU is weak, it doesnt support image processing pass 20 MP? Overall, probably better as a mid range device SoC. |

The only feature I'm really missing in Qualcomm 810 compared to MediaTek, is the insane slow mo at higher resolution...
That MT6795 chip can handle 480fps 1080p !!
See that 480fps how it looks, the funny thing about it, is that 480fps with that chip will only work with specific Sony sensors

What are the chances of the next phones announced being 64 bit?

Same as the chances of the next handsets being SD810.
SD810 == 64-bit
Android 5.0 == 64-bit compatible
I have a dig bick You read that wrong |

So we'll see a huge jump in performance with 64 bit chips? I thought 801 was already quite snappy.

probably will take a while until we see things taking full advantage of it. |

Unless I missed the boat I don't even think there are any major apps/programs for iOS8 that take advantage of the 64bit set up and that's been available for well over a year now.
I'm so happy 'cause today I've found my friends ... They're in my head

Hope these rumours Sony maybe going to cut phone division don't come to pass. Haven't had Sony/SE/Eri phone since 2009 . But with failure of Nokia and looks like WP never going to make it the choices become ever more limited.

Fingers X'd coz if I have to jump onto Android Sony and the Xperias were amongst the 2-3 I was looking at.
Sad the mistakes and lack of imagination or understanding how the market was changing (and rapidly) under Miles Flint - i.e. refocusing on Feature Phones just as Apple had written their death sentence. Then the hesitation and lack of direction (mucking around with Win Mobile) and the silly hardware mistakes / omissions of first few Xperias and incomprehensible inability to nail their cameras and imaging software have really hurt but I felt they were really recovering in the last year in terms of appreciating the market and demands. Still would have put Qi charging on waterproofed devices rather prop magnetic connection (old old Sony story, pop port, mem stick anyone? ) .
Funny how quick it is to lose your way in mobile market and how long it takes to undo those mistakes and work your way back - if ever. Maybe with device iteration seemingly slowing recently the carnage won't be so rapid as consumers start to hang on to their devices for longer (as indeed would seem more normal for $500-$100 devices) as is seen in other consumer areas? |

At the beginning of last year there were several reports saying Sony is considering selling its Vaio business and we all know how it ended...Time to by a Z-line Xperia just for nostalgia... |

Selling either division is suicidal because of the costs associated. No buyer in crazy enough to purchase all the assets at prices that Sony wants. That means selling them at a loss, again, just like they "sold" vaio. But I can't care less, screw sony, I just want to know in advance before Sony lures me into buying a new phone or TV this year. |

Only a buyer is stupid enough to get "lured" into something. You only have yourself to blame.
