Salams,

I have a savings account with the Islamic Bank of Britain and was wondering if the 'profit' that I receive is halal? They say that my money is used for halal causes and that I am entitled to a bit of profit. Can I accept this profit or is it just interest. The guys at the bank used a lot of arabic terminology which just confused me. Any ideas?

I am not a finance person but as far as I know, as long as the bank does not gives loan to organizations which are involved in haraam businesses (e.g. alcohol, pork etc) it is ok for you to get some profit on your money.

Also, after looking at wikipedia on how Islamic banking works, there is a term named Hibah , which means gift . Below is the definition used in terms to Islamic banking.

This is a token given voluntarily by a creditor to a debtor in return for a loan. Hibah usually arises in practice when Islamic banks involuntarily pay their customers interest on savings account balances.

I will look in this matter in more detail and try to find out. Till then, any other brother is more than welcome to provide further information to this.

Allah knows the best ...

1.Abu Dharr reported Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) as saying: In the, morning charity is due from every bone in the body of every one of you. Every utterance of Allah's glorification is an act of charity. Every utterance of praise of Him is an act of charity, every utterance of profession of His Oneness is an act of charity, every utterance of profession of His Greatness is an act of charity, enjoining good is an act of charity, forbidding what is distreputable is an act of charity, and two rak'ahs which one prays in the forenoon will suffice.

2.Abu Huraira reported. My friend (the Holy Prophet, may peace be upon him) has instructed me to do three things: three fasts during every month, two rak'ahs of the forenoon prayer, and observing Witr prayer before going to bed.

A bit contrevrsial i think. http://www.dailystar.co.uk/ne[....]t-Simpsons-Muslim-terror-plot/

"In the most controversial episode ever, daft Homer convinces pals the Middle Eastern family will blow them up."

"Later Homer spies Amid unloading sticks of TNT and saying: “I love blowing up buildings.” He hacks into their computer and finds maps of the shopping mall so warns his pals of a terror attack."

"He even calls Allah “Oliver” and holy book The Koran “The Corona” in scenes certain to enrage Muslim fanatics."

Tbh i dont think they shud broadcast it as middle eastern's get enough stick as it (in UK) is, so this really wont help in any way. Just making matters worse.

This is nothing new to be honest!

Islam is being attacked allover the world and Cartoons are well known for this, they can say or do what they want it will not harm us Muslims in any way shape or form.

We will believe in one Allah (god) and we believe that Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the final messenger and worshipper of Allah almighty.

@10123
I dont know what you are confused about my friend. Just like any other thread on this forum, it is also meant to post information, ask questions, discuss problems, find solutions etc etc. The only difference between this thread and the others is that other thread mainly stick to the topic. whereas in this thread, you can discuss religion or ask a question regarding any other topic as well. Posting useful information about religions is also welcome. Ofcourse, all of this has to be done taking into consideration the rules laid down by the moderators of this forum and ofcourse, in a friendly and rational way. Hope that clears up any confusion in your mind.

Just watched a documentary regarding the long going-on issue of Israel and Palestine. I personally found it very informative as it explained how all this violence started over just a piece of land. Recommend everyone to watch it.

@Brother Abu Samad,

I think in the very first post of this page, a brother asked a question regarding Islamic banking. I tried to find as much information as I could regarding that, but being a Britisher, I think you can address the issue better than me.
JazakAllah

Reading the article, it sounds more like it is poking fun out of those unintelligent people (i.e. Homer) who have no knowledge of Islam...

NOT ISLAM...

Homer stereotypes a 'middle eastern' family, uses the wrong name for Allah and the Qu'ran, and jumps to conclusions without the full information... It doesnt sound like Islam is being insulted, more like Homer is being his usual self?!?

If it was Buddism or another religion or about a certain nationality it wouldnt even be in the paper, its just the western media stirring the pot to try and create a story and issue out of something that is really poking fun at the media (who make up stories about Islam & Muslims) and those small minded people that love to read the british press and believe every word... Its taking the piss out of them in my eyes not attacking Islam...

Importance of 2 Rakat Sunnah of Dawn (Fajar) Prayer:
'A'isha reported Allah's Messenger as saying: The two rak'ahs at dawn are better than this world and what it contains.

Sahi Muslim, Book of Prayers, Hadeeth # 1573

Building a House in paradise:
Umm Habiba, the wife of the Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him), reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: If any Muslim servant (of Allah) prays for the sake of Allah twelve rak'ahs* (of Sun'an) every day, over and above the obligatory ones, Allah will build for him a house in Paradise, or a house will be built for him in Paradise; and I have not abandoned to observe the in after (hearing it from the Messenger of Allah).

*These 12 rakah's break down as follows
2 Rakah's for Fajar Sunnah
4 Rakah's for Zuhr Sunnah before the fard and 2 rakah after fard
2 Rakah for maghrib Sunnah
2 Rakah for Isha Sunnah
Sahi Muslim, Book of Prayers, Hadeeth#1581

walaikum Julias

You are more than welcome to post here my friend. This thread is not strictly for muslims, even non-muslims can post and share information or ask question. Its good to know that you appreciate and respect Islam, specially in this troublesome time when Islam is being subjected to negative propaganda.
