@saka, many apologies as yes you did NOT claim the G900 is a business phones.
With regards to the market then without being a market analyst with all the relevant SE data we can all only guess what thousands of people are going to do.
But I am right in saying if you don't like what SE have to offer then vote with your feet and get another make. Why complain about what one company offers when their is a wide choice from other makes, the N96 is smaller then the N95 for example. It may annoy you that your favourite make of mobile phone does not offer you all you want but I've seen countless comments about people wishing a SE phone had this or that and this is my perfect phone etc, but ever one has a choice so you can buy another make.

Actually there are many more negatives. I mentioned 4 (in the order of importance):
- No Turbo-3G (HSDPA)
- No GPS (built-in, no accessories)
- No 16M colours display
- No Xenon flash

Now I can live with latter 3, but it's gonna be hard without HSDPA in 2009. If you can live with(out) all 4 great for you.

I CAN live without all four (especially without the last three) so I WILL enjoy the G900 when it comes out.

If HSDPA is an absolute requirement for you, then as mentioned, stop bashing the G900 and just move on to another phone already. Jeeze.

@saka,

I don't care about HSDPA, you CAN get a GPS accessory it's called one of the MANY bluetooth GPS units which are way better as they are more sensitive and don't run the cell phone battery as much.
Does the iPhone have 16m colours? I know Glowfiish announced a VGA touch screen device but am not sure of any others and won't those screens use the battery more, and IMO if you want a Xenon flash get a compact digital camera that's way better then any current phone with a bigger aperture. But again the G series isn't an advanced specific camera phone like the C series. As to the pricing it's pretty cheap but I don't know how much the K850 in Europe is.

@apolloa, @leibniz etc:
LOL, all that you can say are the lame answers like get N96 etc. Maybe I will.
But I don't get why you feel obligated to protect every (bad) decision SE takes, as if your own economy depends on that.

Just admit it: G series would be much better with HSDPA, with integrated GPS etc. This way it won't stand the competition, it's just the way it is.

Now I know you would buy it even if it didn't have SMS, that wouldn't pose a problem for you because some really smart analysists at SE made a market research so they must be right.

"Stop bashing G900", LOL. I will bash it just as much as I want, it's a free internet.

Dude, just look at the sort of arguments you give.

iPhone? Who gives a damn about that piece of crap? It doesn't even have UMTS. Should that be a role model for phones?

"I don't care about HSDPA, if you want GPS buy accessories, if you want flash buy a real camera". - Yeah and if you need a mobile phone just find a telephone booth. Gee.

why haven't Nokia still got a proper touch-screen phone apart from the tablet?
The 16m screen doesn't help at all.
I agree with you on HSDPA, but GPS is not necesary, and built-in GPS is not as good as an bluetooth GPS

I agree with you on HSDPA

That's all I've been saying pal.
I agree I can live without GPS, 16M col. and Xenon flash too.

You said you can't get a GPS accessory so I corrected you on that, why do you want built in GPS? It makes a phone bigger, heavier, cost more, uses battery life like no tomorrow, can usually only be used with the supplied software and at present doesn't work as well as a bluetooth unit. And you come across as though you want a phone to equal and replace a compact camera, if you want that then you have to get a non smart phone brick, otherwise no manufacturer makes one so your just speculating on that. But we shall see if this new Cybershot 7.2mpx turns up with optical zoom.
And yes shockingly I really don't give a rats ass about HSDPA. I find UMTS more then fast enough thanks but where I live 3G coverage is patchy, it's good in towns but then I may as well find a hot spot for free fast internet access.
I'm not defending SE, I'm just a person who the G900 is aimed at, I want it as it will perfectly replace my P1i as I'm not a business man and don't want the phone for business use, I have a brilliant bluetooth GPS unit already and I use Tom Tom which is by far the best car Sat Nav out their, or one of the best.

I would much rather have the phone the G900 is, stuff HSPDA and GPS, I want a cheaper smaller better smart phone with good battery life. And in regards to the 16m colours, as no one has mentioned any touch screen devices with them apart from the VGA Glowfiish that's yet to be released I shall assume they aren't out yet which would make me think it would push the price of the G900 up and reduce the battery life quicker. And I have no doubt the screen will be fantastic anyway.

@mode, why have you contradicted yourself in the same post? You say the P5i is not your phone but you'll have to wait for it as a HSDPA SE business phone? Get an X1 then!

I suggest you read my post again to understand the point I was trying to make, I don't see anyone else grappling to comprehend what I was ultimately insinuating. It would save me time from answering your question.

saka, the more you just bash stuff for no reson, the less people listen or care about what you say.

HSDPA? Are you lot seriously bummed because the phone doesn't have this?

Seriously what are you going to use HSDPA for that UMTS doesn't offer you now?

Lets think

1> Phone as a modem for a Mac/PC
2> Streaming Audio
3> Streaming Video
4> Purchasing & Downloading Music from PlayNow Store?

Now think reasonably and honestly with me for just 3mins ppl. Suggestion number one is purely valid because applications that need a corporate VPN connection or need a cloud based service over the net does use a lot of data because the code for PC's/Mac is much much more broad/dense/thick or whatever is the correct term for it. Its just more code and consumes more bandwidth and needs it.

Suggestions 2-4 inclusive, don't NEED HSDPA. Symbian, like Java is a VERY efficient code compared to C++/C#/Objective-C raw code on a PC/Mac. Yes I know Symbian is C++based but its not entirely and its code is nowhere as large on a smartphone in this environment for wireless needs. To Stream Audio we'll need 24/44/48Hz for Stereo, and with 160bps for MP3 or even 96 in AAC is MORE THAN sufficient for playback on a loudspeaker or headset. Streaming video ... well QVGA @ 24fps or 30fps is pure quality with 320kbps will bog down UMTS avg data rates but I'm sure the video will be compressed or be at that bit rate. More like 240/160kbps to save bandwidth not for your phone at first thought but to the hosts servers! Christ BlackBerry's are going to be able to have streaming video in 8mths time on EDGE networks; but for 15fps - crappy but doable. Downloading from Playnow will be INCREDIBLE. I'm sure SE has thought things through and even thought of a cache in case the data stream is paused or interrupted. We'll soon see.

Fore the forseeable future I cannot say that there is ANY mobile application that MUST HAVE HSDPA on ANY smartphone platform current today or into mid 2009. Phones have a 1yr warranty If you purchased the G900 in 2mths time it'll be just fine for Managers (not execs in my view) to communicate information.

G900, just like the P990i or P1i is SUPPOSED to be mobile companion, a laptop replacement for most simple purposes. But if you want all the bells and wistles you have 4 choices. Get the TYTN II, wait 2wks and get the iMate 9205, E90, or wait another 10mths for the Xperia X1.

P.S. Which phone on the market TODAY has Symbian, GPS, 5MP Camera, WiFi b/g, DVB-H ?? Please enlighten me? The Nokia N96 is announced not on sale yet correct?
