have you read the post??? seems to be 3rd behind t650 and d900, which are the loudest by far... no point to be disappointed

Common Sense! I wouldn't post it if I haven't really read it carefully.

Peter Kay claims that it is the loudest Sony Ericsson phone by far. But it is only second to T650. Isn't it quite disappointing?

Isn't the discussion regarding the sound way over discussed?
Get over it already! If you want something which can play loud buy a stereo...

Sorry to disappoint you all, but W960 speaker seems not very loud at all.

Check it out: http://www.gsmarena.com/latest_features-review-171p3.php

Wish i had a tool to test the sound!!

and in case you are wondering, i have not had the t650i or the k850i to review yet, just played briefly with the 2 phones, had more time with the w960i.

hello to everybody, i have some questions about basic features. if any could answer to me i will really appreciate it, thanks in advance.

_ how to "block/unblock" the screen? (bottom-left + other switch???)
_ is it possbile to set the phone in silence mode (bottom-right swtch???)
_ how about the sms writing and sending experience?
_ how is possible to answer a call (a touchscreen botton???)
_ is it possible not to have the walkman app always on the center of the screen? if possible, the 5 icons on the bottom desappear?
_ what about the menu icons on the bottom-left of the screen?

thanks again!

This is what I know:

1. "how to "block/unblock" the screen? (bottom-left + other switch???)"

If you are talking about the basic keylock, then you just hold '#' to lock and '#' + a touch button on the bottom of the touch screen. Don't know which side though, but I'm guessing on the right?

2. "is it possbile to set the phone in silence mode (bottom-right swtch???)"

Just press and hold '*' on the hard keypad. Same to get back to "soundmode"

3. "how about the sms writing and sending experience?"

From my experience with the P1 using the stylus works very good. As I mentioned earlier somewhere here on esato it felt like the w960 had a bit thicker screen cover. But I really doubt that it would impact on the response.

4. "how is possible to answer a call (a touchscreen botton???)"

Yes, you answer with a touchscreen button, and people with a P1 correct me if I'm wrong but you can probably answer with a press on the jog-dial aswell?

5, 6. "is it possible not to have the walkman app always on the center of the screen? if possible, the 5 icons on the bottom desappear?"

There will most likely be three options to choose between:
Today menu (see SE's P1)
Blank screen (just a big clock showing)
walkman menu

All I know is that the icon menu appereance will change when switching to the today menu from the walkman menu.

othel little questions...

in your opinion, it will be possible to buy a new and different stylus? (in metal for example?)

"the Fast port there is a lighter strip that is in fact a status LED. It blinks in red when the battery is empty, and it gets lit up in green when you charge the handset." if u miss a call, the light will be red or green? if an sms arrived...the light will be red or green?

370 h standby time and 9 h talk time: what could be the real way? in P1i?

in your opinion it could be possible to use the p1i battery?(or a better one, for example a 1500mah?)

Is it really possible to associate a ringtone to a specific contact (instead of a group? How many?)

about the alarm clock with radio? is there need of the wire? I mean, to hear the radio as the other SE devices, is it necessary to have the hearphones attached to the phone?

about the font zoom level (small, medium, large), is it possible to see an example (a pic) with the same screen in the three dimensions?

in your opinion, is it possbile to play random all the audio files in a specific directory (example "\\MP3")?

thanks again!!!

I hope they have a demo version online like the k850i. It would help us understand the phone better before purchase at our own leisure pace!

Its funny how on Friday nite i read the GSMarena review of the W960 and did not like it THEN on Saturday i was given the opportunity to play with a W960 and i LOVED IT!! I think that GSMarena review is a bit harsh at some points. I felt that it was loud enough when i playd with it yesterday, its a great phone! Dont let that review change your mind lol!
