xmob - that's one of the few really sensible suggestions thus far. If it checks out (can't help but feel nothings 4 nothing in this world) with no strings attached, a well-promoted drive to encourage users to sign up could work wonders.
Well done! |

Hello,
I found this site last week and it has been extremely helpful. I read that the site is having financial problems which as a former dot-commer I can sympathize with. I made a large donation to the site and I assume there are other people here who benefitted from the Internet boom and can help give back to a site like this. Come on guys! You remember what it was like. Donating to keep a community site alive will make you feel good.
If I can be of any additional help Laffen please let me know. This crisis will make you much stronger. In the end its a win/win situation. Good luck and Happy Holidays.

@plessdude
Thanks for the donation. I really hope Esato will survive the crisis. But with the vast support from old and new members, it seems like this is going to happen.

Hi Laffen,
Maybe it has already been suggested by others (i didn't have the courage to review all the support posts ) but what about adding a splash screen asking for support on the WAP access to your site.
I've been using it for months without registering and was not aware of the situation untill I recently connected with my PC to your site. |

I just received your welcoming email (after registration), and it came to my mind that you could also communicate about the Esato situation inside. |

Maybe the problem is because Internet is too expensive !
A forum about high speed internet have been sold to TISCALI in Switzerland, because the passionate guy who did it was drawn by success.
Another forum, about mobile phones (http://www.mobilemag.ch) has almost been closed for same reason, and has just been saved, I don't know exactly how.
Laffen, can't you use some major group, or community like MSN or Yahoo ? They would probably be glad to have such an important forum... Won't they ?
Hope you'll find a way. I'm a bit scared with my own web site (classified ads). It has not yet a lot of success (450 visitors a day), but if, for any reason, traffic grows up, I will easily be in the same situation.
I will you good luck, and hope that Sony Ericsson will react. I'll send a mail in switzerland too.
Cheers

Although registered for quite some time I have not been an active participant. It looks as though I have missed much. Your problems are pretty much the same as most small independant sites of this nature. Click Ads are a nice addition, but they dont generate nearly the revenue they did 7-8 yrs ago and certainly wont be able to don anything to save you in the short period of time you have. I respect the input that WUZ gave, right at the beginning. You need operating capital NOW. You can write all the letters and come up with all the "great ideas", but your vendors, your Bandwith Providers want CASH now or soon. And the fastest and easiest are the people that use and benefit from the site, The members and the lurkers. And they have to wake up or lose it. And $800+ income means, maybe 40 people have given $20. Not gonna make it. In closing, I have noticed that many in this thread have stated that PayPal is not available at their location. May I recommend CITIBANK's C2it program. Its big and its very international. Worth a look at it. www.c2it.com. There is also many European based companies. If you arent inclined or have the time, drop me a line and I'll be glad to look for you. I wish you the best of luck. Unfortunately , the bottom line is what others have found out over the years, YOU CANT GIVE IT AWAY ANYMORE! Good luck and I hope you can pull it out, sounds like you deserve it. |
