Sad to say that I still get a strong hissing background noise with R1AA008, as soon as I go into the "walkman" media player ("click pshshshshshshshshshshshshsh..."), even without starting a song (though it continues to be heard during music playing).
This is the most annoying thing about the phone, and a glaring scandalous fault with something marketed as a portable music player of high quality.
If this is a general fault and not being fixed I think it will hurt the SE brand badly. I know about 20 people with the W800i, and more than half of them are very annoyed by this, I guess the rest don't use it much for playing music (we got these from the employer).
Is it just us going mad or are other people noticing this hissing noise still with the R1AA008 firmware?

I still cant update. After choosing the country the update client (2.2.1) just keeps showing those green loading squares. No idea what is wrong. I have updated my java to 5 update 6.
Do I need to update flash?

man something must be with your puter.
update flash, reinstall program, make sure you restart after, make sure your antivirus and or firewall is turned of, if using router check the port forwarding, use some other puter. |

I had to wait about 20 minutes at that screen to get to the Start / Exit screen.
I think lots of data has to be downloaded. Are you on quite a slow link (mines only 512KB)?
Bear with it. I'm sure it'll sort itself out! |

I made a test clip lasting 5 seconds. When I looked its properties it showed:
BitRate: 170kbps
FrameRate: 25fps
Is this good? |

Hi all
I have just gone to the latest R1AA008 version with a UK o2 w800i using the latest Sony Ericsson Update Software (Flash based) and it all went well and was much better than the old web based version.
My phone is working but will need time to see if there are any noticeable pros or cons with this over R1NA005.
Has anyone noticed any major things either good or bad?

Updated to R1AA008 here in Italy with new standalone flash utility.
The first thing i can say: the earpiece volume is much louder!
One question: my ITP SW version is CXC 125 932 P1AE and not CXC 125 932 R1E. It's the same version since the first firmware release (R1A044). Why isn't upgraded? What's ITP SW Version?

Hi have the same, so I guess it's another way to tell you that you have the EUROPE_5 version of the K750i.
Ciao,

Hi mrwoll
I had the same problem as you tonight - Stuck on green bars for 20 odd mins. (I am in Jersey / UK)
I reinstalled SEUS original version then installed new one just about to give up when after about 5 minutes it kicked in and i now have R1AA008!
Maybe a coincidence or maybe server very busy ???
Im very impressed Ive only just bought my K750 and was a little disapointed with audio quality from internal speaker/s. my old Nokia 6230 was louder and far better bass response
This update has transformed my phone I think they have been seriously tweaking gain & EQ settings for both internal speakers
Thank you everyone
I now have the phone I thought I had bought (if that makes sense)

Am I right in thinking that the success rate with the new software is higher, i.e. there's less chance of killing the phone?
I've already been burnt once before by SEUS, and I'm extremely hesitant about trying it once again.
Should I try the new update software, or is it still very risky?

The new version does not have a recovery mode option. SE thinks it is no longer necessary. Time will tell ...

well, thats becouse the update method pretty much kind of changed, I would say, it does not have the automatic verification mode, but only the recovery mode .... the update method of SEUS 2 more like reminds of the recovery method then the automatic verification method. |

noise that can be heard in media player only occurs on external speaker. through earphones you cant detect any background noise whatsoever if your audio is of decent quality.
as an avid music listener you shouldnt be playing it on external speaker.
apologise if somehow you can detect hissing with hpm-70 plugged in and starting media player. i just cant |

So the speakersound rocks with the R1AA008.
And everything seems much faster but the most important thing is the bug from the memstick transfer.
And SEUSII rules too.

No, it hasn't changed. I tried it with a D750i. It's still only a differential update. Then I tried again after I purposely damaged the GDFS area of that phone. This causes the never ending flashing display and the CDA can not be read, a typical case for recovery which SEUS 2 should be able to. However the only thing it says is "could not recognize phone" and "please try again" or something similar.

I finally got R1AA008 in! SEUS II did the job.
The hissing bug is still there as said in prev posts.
I'm worried about battery drain if i forgot it in media player mode,
as it seems as it turns the internal amplifier on...? |
