Hi

I need some help with my SE Arc.

I need to keep the Bluetooth on discoverable always so it automatically links with my carkit.
Also the name of the phone is LT5i(something) how do I change it to SE Arc, I tried it under media centre but on forum apps it still shows LT5i.
Also which will be the best media codecs to download? To view wmv files...

Tnx

The discoverable mode is actually more like a pairing mode i.e. you should only need it on to pair the arc to your car. After that whenever your car kit is on and ready it will automatically search for it's paired devices and will find devices it is paired with whether or discoverable mode is tuned on or not. I've never had any issues with having to turn on discoverable mode after the device has been paired and I've used numerous car kits and headsets, in fact I'd advise not to turn discoverable mode on permanent (if there was such a setting).

Hey. In the last few days I have experienced some serious battery drain. Think it might be google maps after recent update. Anyone else experience this?

This 2.3.3 is an utter disgrace. SE should be embarrassed with that pig of a release. They had better get 2.3.4 on World Generic pronto because every day with this piece of rubbish release is another reason for me to go looking for a Nexus.

I experience bugs in my application menu (2.3.3) . Often when I open the menu I get multiple screens. Normally I have 5 screens, but often it is around 11 of them with several empty places. I have to press the Home button twice to get back the 5 screens. Anyone else with the same problem? Is it gone in 2.3.4?

What's your biggest issue with 2.3.3? Battery drain?

Battery drain is the biggest problem. Other highlights include very very laggy performance generally, force closes all over the place (particularly Timescape plugins), frequent inability to multitask when using audio applications (turn off in the background), substantial deterioration in Wifi performance, (dropping networks) and Android Market not performing properly either. There are other more minor bugs and glitches but put it this way, I have been careful to not let anyone play with my Arc recently, cos they would laugh.

Some of this may be app dependent but it all started with 2.3.3.

Quick help from anyone still using Android 2.3.2...

Could you tell me the names of the alarm tones (I think there are only a few)
Sorry I can't remember the actual name ot the tone.

The stock android ones were removed by SE in 2.3.3, and gone with it the really loud tone that I was using.

Just need to know the name of the tone so I can download it.

Many Thanks,

Suprisingly, after the 2.3.3 (4.0.A.2.368), which I just got a week back, my Arc battery life and performance has improved. I am now getting 2 days from my Arc from the earlier 1.5 days and the performance is much improved as well.
I know this is the exact opposite of what has been said in this thread, but I guess either Sony Ericsson India took so long to release the firmware update to sort out all the issues or am just lucky so far...

@Avinash: This is what happened to me exactly after I updated, but sadly lasted for a week. Battery drains so fast now and performance is still better than before, but not as good as when I had updated. My phone is World Generic, I bought it from Dubai, and I live in Egypt, and there's not update to 2.3.4 yet, and I'm waiting impatiently for it!

Seems ICS will be out before 2.3.4 for World Generic.

It's just as well the Tech Press barely gives a siht about SE as this is a pretty embarrassing issue from a PR point of view. And good PR, as Apple show, is a key determinant of market share.
