Don't know if I need one.. I have tested FON (a worldwide network of people sharing WiFi, www.fon.com) and it works! It's http-login to access the networks and the p990 works perfect. 
I have had a few hang-ups thou when running several program and several tabs in the browser (Yes! You can surf with tabs!!).
Thou the hang-ups has been only in the program themself who has shut down. So the phone itself didn't shut down... Still a bit irritating.
I also run jimm (jimm.org) as a ICQ-client and have problem connecting via socket. Can only connect to that if the gprs is already active (multitasking from the browser) or if i am connected to wifi. I can get it to work via http-connection but then it takes more kb and becomes more expensive.

I'm going to use the wifi like mad at university, there it is also http login. Also have wifi at home, so hopefully i can play the movies from the pc remotely on the phone |

Yes... I downloaded a couple of pod-TV-videos from SVT (Swedish television) via RSS over WiFi... worked perfectly... 15mb in a minute or two. (via my broadband... witch is faster then the p990 WiFi...)
And then I transfered a mpeg4-movie from my computer via USB as well. 320x240. The bitrate was about 512kbit first witch was a bit overkill with that resolution.. it stalled a few times during the video... No visible quality-loss with 384kbit and then it run smooth all the way.
I dont really know about the free ram...
In the "status-mode" it says only 8-9mb availible memory...
Can it be that little? |

So how do you download these then? The page loads listing the videos, but there are no links for them or any obvious means of downloading them? |

well you need to register first.
Then you can download.
If your not logged in the d/L links will not appear...
(stupid or obcene usernames will be blocked)

I got a call from my Finnish reseller, who told me that P990s have arrived and they will send me mine today or tomorrow. Should be home with papa tomorrow or the day after  |

me i'm waiting for T-mobile UK to release the P990i do i still have to wait?!longer than September maybe?
does anyone else know when the P990i is out on T-Mobile UK i am clucking to upgrade from my P910i which is still great for me...
but i want my P990i!!! |
