You're a bigger iDiot than i thought.

OS X is the name given to the combination of Aqua and the Unix based Kernel.
The iPhone OS neither looks like Aqua, nor has the functionality of the OS X kernel.

Therefore iPhone OS =/= OS X.

To clarify the bullshittery posted below as an edit after the topic lock, The iPhone CANNOT run ANY application written for OS X. In contrast, Something like maemo can run anything that runs on Debian Linux. Therefore it IS Linux. What's on the iPhone is a gimped PoS that as usual, has no relevance in this thread and was dragged in by the iTard.

Please, go away.

Nope. OS X is the name given to Apple's operating system which is based on a Unix kernel. It's traditionally used the Aqua UI on the desktop, in Mac OS X, but that's irrelevant to this discussion. OS X =/= Aqua.

The iPhone OS neither looks like Aqua, nor has the functionality of the OS X kernel.

It doesn't look like Aqua because it doesn't use Aqua - that would be ridiculous, as Aqua is a desktop UI. It is still based on the OS X core and actually does feature much of the same OS level functionality. It's still based on the "Darwin" Unix core just like Mac OS X. To cut a long story short, it's OS X.

But of course you know that, because you're not the kind to confuse an OS with a UI. Are you?

Best calm down, synn.

So they're platform compatible as long as you don't need to use any features of the platform? Good job we're not splitting hairs..

No, you don't need to use all the features.

And what do you think will happen to those games as soon as multitouch is widespread, and a bunch of new multitouch games arrive to compete with them? Will the developers of those games just accept that they're not going to sell anymore? No, of course not - they'll update their games to use multitouch too, where appropriate, to improve the gameplay and keep themselves top of the download charts. At which point, the pool of games available to the X10 will be much reduced (and increasingly old).

Oh, sorry, I forgot, no one in the world buys if they don't support multitouch, that's true, how could I forget that

So basically the entire Android developer scene will be held back another year on account of the X10's shortcomings. Another proud moment for SE! I sincerely hope that isn't the case, as it's actually sadder than SE putting out yet another half-assed phone.

Nope, if the X10 wouldn't be there, Android won't be a major gaming platform next year too. Actually, every phone, so the X10 too, will help that to go a li'l bit faster.

Yes I can; I'm not talking about speed, which will be similar across all three phones, I'm talking about the additional multitouch emphasis and interface tweaks that are going to favour the Nexus One and Desire far more than the X10.

So if I can't pan to zoom and whatever MT features (or should I say mostly gimmicks?) you are thinking about, the whole platform doesn't run well?

It has a lot to do with multitouch when that's a key new technology that's being rapidly implemented in the Android OS, and we're talking about a new Android phone that's physically unable to use it.

And why would a phone run worse because of that in two years time? It will be a bit less updated, but it runs just as good.

But hey, you know? I'm out too. It was fun talking to you, but I don't think it's usefull to go any further.
