I don't remember if the IMX220 was ever introduced before the launch of the Z1 but I may be wrong. The IMX230 was, so either it is not destined for the Z5 line or it is and sony just decided to introduce it unlike the IMX220.
Or sony has a new sensor in the works but I am not too keen to believe the Wiebo information that much and feel the IMX230 will just go into the Z5 line. |

Yeah, they did not announce imx220 at all so i believe history will repeat itself meaning they will announce z5 with a new unannounced sensor. I don't believe they will use imx230 because camera is an important feature especially for flags so they better diffrenciate it from the rest. they always did. |

I hope you are right. Sony already has the IMX240 which is just a smaller IMX230, so the next number up could be IMX250 but that already exists

The new sensor could be an imx260 or beyond, or it could be a part of a new imx300 line... |

imx 300 is 1/2,2 inch 24-23 mp sensor and new lens group , same thickness as imx 220
if z5 has a new sensor , we will never learn about it from sony sensor pages until they start to sell it another companies.they put imx 220 after started selling it to meizu.

So....SD820 isn't that far off. It must be good if Samsung is testing it next to its own Exynos which is the 2015 champ. I don't expect the Z5 to have the 820 so is it worth delaying it for the 820? In think the 810 will turn many people away from the Z5. |

Ok so this rumour of the 5.5 inch device coming later might be true, the sony devices passed through E-postel again a few days ago twice it seems.

Well I think Ultra is still around 6 inches. The 5.5 device is the one Z5+ or whatever. It just doesn't make sense having both 5.2 and 5.5 devices. |

While not directly mobile related, Sony is coming out with a pretty sweet mobile projector. It's branded as a PS4 accessory, but it does support MHL so it could be viewed as a mobile accessory as well
