Good start idea. Let's see where they end up.
Great camcrder, good camera, but not WVGA or keyboard
Looks more like a multimedia not like a PDA.
To be a hit need a lot lot more.

The questions was about 3D hardware acceleration for fast drawing graphics.
Accelerometer in a phone is a $2 device that mesures the tilt angle.
However a REAL ACCELEROMETER is a complex device tha calculates gravity force and acceleration speeds. Used in navegation, aircraft etc.
So Xperia has 3D acceleration? YES
Xperia has phone accelerometer? MY guess is NO, despite GSM arena say yes. |

XPERIA PANELS OPENING for ALL Windows Mobile devices.
I heard an interesting hint of the future at the CTIA Wireless trade show today. During a presentation on the new Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 smart phone, Sony Ericsson senior manager for application and product planning Ramanath Bhat didn't rule out opening up Sony Ericsson's new "panel" user interface to other Windows Mobile gadgets, which would be a big step forward for Windows Mobile.
Read it here:

that would be cool, but if they open up panels too early it may impact on X1 sales.
I downloaded the Xperia Panels sdk to have a look at what's involved in making a panel. I wondered if it would be possible with the sdk to create a "panels" pack that can be installed on any WM, though I wasn't too hopeful.

Go ahead MAX, I sure that's what SE have in mind.
Can you imagine fully personalised Panels that I can carry from phone to phone?. AWESOME. |

If you're refering to T-Mobile in the U.S., read page 233 of this thread. |

Called in Carphone Warehouse on the way home from work, tonight.
I just asked if they heard any solid date for X1 stock, and was told 1st week in October, but they seem to think Orange will have exclusivity for the first month or so.
Anyone here (UK) know anything about that?
I really need to stay with 02, cos a) the reception is best of all the networks where i work (Cheshire), and b) I have 02 broadband, and get a discount for being an 02 phone customer.
Please someone, say it aint Orange exclusive!
Hi,
I also spoke to Carphone Warehouse customer services yesterday, as I am now due for an upgrade. They have been told that they can provide an upgrade on my current contract (which is with O2, through the Carphone Warehouse). They are hoping the phone will be free on an 18 month, £35 a month contract with unlimited texts.
With regards to the phone, according to their distribution and marketing team, I was told they are expecting the handset in at the end of September, or first week of October as you said. However, I find it very hard to believe that Orange will be getting exclusive rights to it. It's not even on the coming soon section of their own website, and when calling them they hadn't even heard of it and I was told "Well, if it's not on our system then it certainly won't be coming out anytime soon" - at which stage I pointed out that Vodafone were due to get it between 5th and 9th October.

well, for those who are interested on expansys website, you can pre order with a T-mobile contract and get the X1 for free for a 18 months contract.
