Just updating right now on my other PC (progress bar at 50%),wondering where the new client puts the file cause on the well-known directory I still have R1N035...

This new stand alone client seems to be more stable and the great thing is that it requires some ports to be opened on the firewall, so we don't need to disable it anymore.

I have a question now, why the "old" SEUS needed the "OK" from regional network operators while Local Service Centers and this new SW client do not? Anyone? Numb?

Happy Updating Day to All,
Anger.

UPDATE: My phone updated perfectly using the new client. Now it has R1AA008 and it looks really faster rotating, zooming and transfering files to PC, video & picture quality is just the same (the camera software is the same -4.5-indeed, but I need more time to test it), finally I said goodbye to the MS DUO bug (I putted back to the original all USB and cache settings). While upgrading I haven't stopped any applications running and it has updated just fine.

So I must thank Tackey for the useful info about the new client! THANK YOU BUDDY... and of course Numb and all of you to keep me constantly updated, I hope I did the same with you guys.

Just updated my UK unbranded K750i on O2 (Europe 2) using the new SEUS that Tackey pointed us to. I see what you mean numb about the display can't pin point if it seems sharper or the colours are more vivid. Seems to go through the menus a lot quicker. It moved bluetooth off my activity menu. Easy enough to put back. Haven't checked much else yet. Let you know.

Ps Thanks to Tackey for the Link.

Just tried the new client. My hope was that it has a recovery mode like in the old client. Unfortunately it hasn't, or it has hidden it somewhere ...

Kinda weird how the new update service tells you to remove the SIM card before update now. Guess that confirms your what you where saying about it checking the SIM card Numb.

I had the same thought when I first saw it, but dont really think theres any difference as such. Firmwares still need to be ok'ed by operators for their networks, they just wont be released in servicecentres or on seus untill they are ok'ed.
Dunno how this new client checks for operator though when you pull out the sim before attaching the phone. ?

Suggestion to mwarner: It would be very useful to put a link to the new Update Software Client on the first post.

Thank you for your time sir.

Another issue solved:

- Voice dialling and voice answer works perfectly. In R1N035, the detection of the Magic Word annoyingly stopped always if you jumped into the Calls menu and then back... or in many other cases, now it starts again if you jump back to standby mode! And now it works during mp3 playback as well... Voice answer is very useful if you wearing very thick cycling gloves in winter, because you cant push the headset button with it...
