W660 doesn't look to different from W610. Actually W610 has autofocus, this one doesn't. The design is still pretty cool, but besides that?
I do not understand why SE would send two similar models on the market at the same time? Anyway, it is a sign that maybe new announcements will fallow, let's just hope.

@oscar_lkpg

Sorry for having a whine myself mate but I keep telling people that has been gunning for the mid-range and has been doing for the past year or so; its aiming to increase its market share.

So we really shouldn't be surprised if all we have been seeing recently are phones like the W660i/W880i.

Its disappointing for us all mate believe you me, but some of us are gonna show a stiff-upper-lip and plough on through these dark times

I'm sure whatever has up their sleeves will be worth waiting for. Sorry mate.

It would be so good not to have to read all those losers remarks about going over to Nokia.
If you are a true SE fan you have faith in them.

but i was wrong haha i checked Cebit homepage
nokia/ motorola and SE still being one of the exhibitor

but to be honest this is a funny year

for the past few years...all these three big names always announce their new product before Cebit

this yr they did some in 3GSM and some in CES Las Vegas and now its like nothing for CEBIT.

If you think about it realistically, SE is doing what's best for their company. To build up their mid-low range lines and make more money. That's where most of the money are. Mid-low range.

Just look at the video card market. It's always the entry level and mid range that gives the most money to the manufacturer. The high range are only there for status and bragging rights.

It's good that SE is not neglecting the majority of the users out there who doesn't want an expensive phone, but rather something reasonable, looks good and reliable.

I understand some of you die hard fans who wants so much from their phone... but guess you guys have to be patient, or do what most people are doing, threatening on moving to other manufacturers. (Just don't spam... we've heard it a thousand times, and honestly it's getting very annoying, I mean what do you expect to gain from saying it again other than get lots of flames from your post).

About the gfx card it's normal and logical to buy a low-mid level card because its more than sufficiant to play all the games(ex:nvidia 7600gs),and why will you buy a 500/600$ card when you will throw it after 2 years and while you can buy for the same price a playstation 3?
now to return to SE,the pics of yesterday about the prototype of the k850 are not innocent and I still beleive SE will release it between june and july with some modification on the screen size(seems 2.1'' on the proto but could go to 2.2'') and of course the back side with a real lens cover!

But w660 looks same like all other phones

they have announced 10 phones for this year until now

but nothing innovative in design nor the specification

and moreover they have made a long wait, and fans feel frustrated and everyone whose frustrated say i moving to nokia, just to emphasise that at least then SE will release some good phones in the fear of loosing customers

so thats the reason this sentence
1) no innovations
2) long waits
3) same phones with slight modification nothing great here,
4)i feel most need features in the phone than rather than just changing the design outlook

I wasn't really talking about where the market is, rather where the profits are as high end devices has it's disadvantages to manufacturers as they are not usually mass produced as much as mid range (therefore not being as efficient), not to mention the Research & Development required compared to the number you're going to sell...

I mean think about it logically...

Just hypothetically, using N95 and Sofia just for names. Figures are all made up, so I don't want anyone saying how it should be like this or like that. It's just hypothetically.

In US$
R&D for N95 = 100 millions.
R&D for Sofia = 80 millions.

Gross profit for N95 = $50
Gross profit for Sofia = $50

Number of N95 to be sold in a year = 5 million
Number of Sofia to be sold in a year = 30 million

Which do you think give more in return to manufacturer?

Anyway, back to topic, I think I've veered far enough. LoL.

Edit: To respond to the post above mine.
Most people needs features? How did you get this figure? Did you do any market research? Or did you just developed this conclusion based on what you think?

Have you actually seen how phones are actually sold to the masses? Do you even think 50% of mobile phone buyers use more than 20% of their mobile phone features?

And what do you mean by no innovation? Think about it for a second.

If SE didn't came out with the W660 or all those phones with similar specs but different design and software, what did SE had to sell? Do you think they will keep selling two year old phones and technology? (K750/W800)

At least they are remaking the old phones with new designs, hopefully better parts/battery/screens, new user interface and software features, and by the looks of it, getting thinner.

I'm sure if the masses (people who don't really care if they had Auto Focus or this or that) had the choice to pick between the K750i or W660, they would choose the W660. I know I would. (Note: I'm waiting to get Sofia as well)

I agree,I would be very happy with a sort of K800 with just the possibility of changing icons , a larger screen and thinner,no need for a 10 mp and 12x optical zoom, you need a good camera? just buy a real digital cam!
The N95 has so many features...ok! but it's a so ugly phone,my God! this cheap plastic silver and it's so bulky that you feel like having a closet in your pocket(if it can enter your pocket)!!

Cheap plastic silver? Give yourself a break! I'm pretty sure its better than the abysmal material used in W810/K800.
And its big and bulky? So is P990 and M600!

And why oh why are you mentioning the P990 and M600? He didn't start a flame war. He's just stating how he is one of those users who would be satisfied with a mid range phone.

Edit: And by the way, the front of the K800 is made of metal. Of course the buttons and the screen are something else. The back of the phone has some kind of rubbery grip like material.

Edit: Another edit just to stay on topic .
As I was saying, it's good too see many new mid range phone as this was what SE lacked a few years back (K700i era) where they only had one or two at each range. The looks of the Rose Red W660i looks good (for girls). The black is also good, but the pattern at the back is rather plain (compared to the Rose Red version)

Edit: off topic my post....

any way, w660i has 3g no? at least it differs a bit from w610i. and by the looks of it, its part of the emotional range, so it doesnt need fantastic features, just 'good' simple ones in a nice design... and imho have achieved that....

ps. stay on topic guys

T920
High end UMTS phone. To be announced at CeBIT. May be similar to the E510/E530 in that it is a code number for a different model number. Could be T for TV (BRAVIA).

T921
High end UMTS phone (probable variation on T920). To be announced at CeBIT. May be similar to the E510/E530 in that it is a code number for a different model number. Could be T for TV (BRAVIA).

Does anyone know where this rumour came from? I thought we wouldn't see Bravia TV phones until at least the summertime.
