I updated to the new 4.0.A.2.368 firmware (global version). I have the Rogers unit, it seems smoother, no issues so far but I had to turn full animation to semi as I was noticing battery life has gotten a bit more power hungry. Will continue to monitor it. The experience seems so far so good.

Any reason why the ARC cannot run the KIA Optima AR Augmented reality app?

Today...had the first crack
Left side near the bottom just in line with the top of the back key (Misty Silver)
Not really sure I want to upgrade to 4.0.A.2.368 PC Companion is telling me to upgrade, but from what I've been reading here, not sure it's really worth it, especially with the battery issue. I'm proud of the amazing 18+ hrs I get, wouldn't let this down.
Any new apps or features? I've read quickly here, all I could read is something with the icons and crt off thing and a new calendar. Anything else?

So after a full charge and turning animation to semi, I had it on for about 11h 28 min, my batter indicator says 83% still, not bad at all.

have you seen this
xperia ray
in this pic
the xperia ray battery is much smaller than the xperia arc while keeping the same 1500mah capacity, why don't SE release a higher capacity battery for the arc?it would be awesome.

Agghhh
The battery life on the new firmware is horrid. I've make sure everything is closed off, only running data, on medium-animations, deleted accuweather widget, GPS, wi-fi, even location services but I'm still getting massive idle battery drain.
Under the previous firmware, I'd get about 1 - 1.5 per cent drain on idle, however since upgrading i'm getting about 3 per cent on idle (which ties in with what users on XDA are saying), I lost almost 50 per cent battery in about 12 hours today with very light use. I can't believe SE can mess the battery up again! It seems a common occurrence on Xperia phones, first with the X10 and then with the camera module when the Arc came out, finally I thought SE had fixed it with the previous firmware, but it's back again.
I'm really tempted to downgrade as although the updates make the phone a lot slicker now I can't deal with this this huge idle battery drain. I can except drain when using the phone, but not when it's sat on my desk not being used.
Hope SE sort this out pronto.

I just updated....haven't changed anything in my settings. GPS, Bluetooth are ON, Full Animations.
I used the phone for about 1hr of phone calls, some heavy whatsapp and viber msgs usage. Some sms. facebook a bit....and after 5 hours I have 72% looks pretty normal to me!
I see a huge difference in performance though, before it would lag a bit, especially when outside air conditioned areas....now it's very quick and responsive!

just got my arc for two days ,does it come with a screen protector preapplied? there is one in the box but i read before that the arc comes with preapplied screen protector.i am afraid to remove the plastic cover from the screen(the one that sticks out from the phone at the micro usb connector) as i don't want to have scratches.doyou recommend that i apply the included screen protector in the box whether it has a pre applied one or not? or if there is a prapplied one i have to remove it first?(i can't see if there is one applied or not, may be it is applied very perfectly that it doesn't appear.
thx |

The one that comes on the phone, should have a little flap allowing you to peel it away. This really is meant just to protect the screen during transit etc. You can keep it on, but it's not its intention. If you're worried about scratch then apply the supplied screen protector, I did for the first few months, but have now removed it as it was getting annoying. I keep it in a polyethylene case which seems to do the job alright, really up to you.

Beneath the packaging cover (the one with the flappy bit) there is a pre applied shatter protection sheet that is perfectly smooth and perfectly applied. It is not scratch resistant. I've not tried the bundled scratch protector and doubt I will use it either. The glass beneath the shatter proof sheet is scratch resistant.
I will likely keep the shatter proofing sheet on until it gets scratched, then I'll take it off and use the screen naked. I'm completely scratch free so far, at nearly 6 months old, but on the other hand my friend dropped his in a pub the other night, it got kicked across the floor face down, he picked it up and it was scratched to hell, unsurprisingly.
I have a dig bick You read that wrong |
