@mamtaj:
Why are you playing the comparision game. Some people can't keep their cool while comparing these two countries. Lets avoid that.

Happy New year to our fellow members!!!
Telenor's network now covers 200 cities! They have really changed gears after warid launched with 28 cities compared to theirs of only 3 cities, but now they have out-performed everyother GSM network operating in Pakistan.
Mobilink covers around 320 cities and its operating for more than a decade and Telenor has covered 200 cities in just less than a year's time.
Hats off to Telenor.

@SE7
Mobilink covers 420 cities (not 320, as you said).
Secondly, Telenor covers 200 destinations (cities + roads/highway).
Out of 200, 171 are cities and 29 are roads/highways/link roads etc.
(Ufone covers 240 cities.)
But undoubtedly, Telenor is making gr8 progress. Especially, its gprs service is fantastically fast. |

@aainpak:
Thanks for your reply. When i read it somewhere their (Mobilink) coverage was 320, thanks for updating our knowledge about Mobilink's coverage.
The point i wanted to make is the pace with which Telenor's network is progressing is Phenomenal! Both Ufone and Mobilink have spend lot of time but their coverage is not as fast to match that of Telenor's.
Also i must admit that Telenor's signal quality is the best. The place where i never got Mobilink's signals, i can even use Telenor's GPRS there. I also have a post paid Warid connection and its signals are not so good.
Telenor's only -ve point till now is that one cannot receive international SMS other than from UAE (which started only 2-3 weeks back). I hope they sort out this b4 its 2late.
A friend of mine is using warid and went for Umera and took his connection with international roaming and he was pretty disappointed with the quality of service which he got while is KSA. He ultimately took a local connection and was much happier with it than Warid's.

Boycott Telenor! Telenor is a Norwegian company, and Norway is one of those countries which published offensive cartoon images of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH). Lets show our love for our Prophet, and boycott products of countries which tried to despise and defame our Prophet. |

Norway has already regretted unlike Denmark and others! Morever, their Prime Minister has also called Shaukat Aziz to appologize for this most unfortuntate event. I therefore feel they should not get the treatment.
Following is the news clip from Daily Dawn of January 27, 2006.
Norway asks embassies to offer regrets
OSLO, Jan 26: Norway has advised its Middle East embassies to voice regret that an Oslo-based newspaper ran cartoons hurting sentiments of Muslims.
A small Christian newspaper Magazinet ran on Jan 10 a reprint of 12 blasphemous cartoons from Denmark’s largest newspaper Jyllands-Posten.
Some Middle Eastern countries have already criticized Denmark over the cartoons.
“We have sent out a letter to our embassies with any advice they might need,” Anne Lene Dale Sandsten, spokeswoman for the Norwegian Foreign Ministry, said on Thursday.
She declined to give details of the letter but a draft published in the Norwegian daily Aftenposten expressed regret about the publication of the cartoons.
“The caricatures in the Christian publication Magazinet are not constructive to build the needed bridges between people of differing religious beliefs and ethnic backgrounds,” it said.
“Rather, they create mistrust and unnecessary conflict.”
Other European countries which published besides Denmark and Norway are:
France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Holland, Czech Republic and Hungary
I think Except for Norway, no other country has appologized as yet! We should rather boycott their products rather than targetting Norway's. Offcourse, Denmark is leading from the front with its stiff instance. |
