@Qoastro
I know GRY is a word but unfortunately that is not the right answer. I will give a clue, that is a trick question

Glenny I will tell in a minute, let someothers try that as well. In the mean time try the snooker ball one below it is straight forward. The word one is somewhat like your question of table and rooms , playing with words
You have 8 identical looking snooker balls. But one of them is slightly heavier than the rest of them. You have a common balance with you and you can weigh the balls twice using it. You have to find which one is heavier than the rest of them

Sorry Glenny I think I confused you, when I said it is a play on words I was actually talking about the GRY riddle. The snooker ball one is a straight forward one, just need a bit of thought. By common balance I just meant an ordinary 'balance'. As you said it seems only we three are playing
Now the answers
1: The third word in "the english language" is 'language'
(I know it is a bit silly )
2: You have to take 3 snooker balls each and put it on either side of the balance,
If one side is heavy then you know the heavy ball is one among the three in that side so remove the other three and the other two balls away, then put one each from the three on either side of the balance
if they are equal weight then the one lying out side is the heaviest of the lot and if one side of the balance is heavier then that ball obviously is the heaviest
If when you balance three on each side both sides are equal then you take all those six away and put one each of the other two lying outside
and put that on either side of the balance.
Hope this is clear

@anish
In Sweden it's always told like the third word is Gry, since it's reallly a word. But your's was great as a substitute
Might try it on some friends.
And I love the one with the snookerballs

lol, if you have looked in the online dictionary dicitonary.com then you could have actually seen the riddle itself and its answer there.
Qoastro, actually when I was asked this riddle I thought aswell the answer as GRY as it is a real word and it means one tenth of an inch or something like that.
Now a new Riddle
There was a man who needed a haircut and he was in a small town with two barbers and it was miles away from any other town and he decided he had a few hours to kill and so he figured he would use the extra time to figure out which barber was better so he went to the first barber and he saw a somewhat poorly dressed man with a shabby haircut outdated chair and he had just the bare necessities and then the man walked over to the other shop and that barber had a nice haircut and newer razors and sissors and had a lot of chairs and the whole place looked A-1 ---but the man decided to go back to other shop to get his hair cut.
Why did the man go to the 1st shop?

because the man with the good haircut clearly had his hair cut by the other man. It is nearly impossible to cut your own hair.

The new riddle
There was a man who lived on the 30th floor of a building. On rainy days he took the elevator all the way up to his room. On sunny days he went to the 20th floor and walked the rest. Why?
