adv99576, they've been offering since they started last April... it was free until June when they started charging.

One has to request Sun to activate their GPRS and I guess this has been extensively discussed in this thread. Once gprs has been activated, wap browsing with your phone is possible as well as using your phone as modem for PDAs and notebooks.

@ adv99576 - I beg to disagree, my friend is on Sun and we were using wap yesterday. Why would you think I would ask the cost of accessing wap using sun if its not applicable?

im sorry. i might be right, i might be wrong...

what i know is, you can surf using SUN's GPRS if you are a -postpaid- subscriber, and if you're using your phone as a -modem-.

when i mentioned sun doesn't offer wap, i mean they don't offer it for -prepaid-. cos i have a prepaid SUN account, and when i ALWAYS call them regarding WAP, they ALWAYS say that they are not offering WAP yet... pardon me, even I am annoyed because as someone in the forum have mentioned, sometimes, they (the Customer Service Reps) don't even know (or isn't updated) about their own services...

correct me if i'm wrong =)

You're a little wrong and a little right

Sun doesn't operate their own WAP gateway, but unlike other operators you can use a third party WAP gateway like O2 and it will work.

The WAP IP is more important with Nokia phones, I notice with the Sony Ericsson P800, you can use the WAP browser with Sun's GPRS connection (no WAP gateway specified) - of course most of the time I use Opera instead to access WAP and xHTML sites.

this is just to confirm that WAP is available to prepaid subscribers, yun lang nga, may charge. akala ko nga its free since their cs doesnt know about it. so when i used it on my pocket pc for at least 1 hour, ubos ang load ko.

and also just to add, if mms is working, then wap is working.....
just request for a mms service and they will activate in in hours, then now you have gprs

although sun is a new network, its services are better than those of smart or globe on their first year of operation. i just hope this level of service will continue and improve in the years to come.
