any chance to see windows phone from Sony? Apparently, there is a vaio phone running windows 10.

I was hoping they would release something, if MS pays them. But now I see 0% probability. Windows mobile is failing miserably and MS knows it. Sony knows it too and their mobile division is basically on life support, sucking 1 million a day in losses from the parent company. I see Sony doing what MS will be doing - releasing a few phones a year about which nobody cares, keeping R&D low with low volume and rather high prices. Naturally, they are sticking to android.

Holy smokes! 1Gbps LTE in a smartphone!

I know it's only prototype but it gives hope for Sony being first to market with the tech in, say, 6-8 months (conveniently enough for the Z6)?

This might be interesting, I don't see any concept phone used by Qualcomm was so near to Xperia design from past.

What would they announce? That they are helping Qualcomm with a bit of research (and probably getting paid by Qualcomm to do so)?

Qualcomm would need someone to make a testbed device for them if they were hoping to make their live demos visually attractive. I'm glad they chose Sony to do it for them, maybe it was on the back of the Z5/Premium using the v2.1 of SD810 chipset.

August 20th is a saturday this year, but it the 20th was a thursday last year, so perhaps the prototype is from last year. In 2-3 days time, sun/mon, we will see how well the current xperia's will deal with the competition. Not expecting Sony's sales to stay strong for the next quarter or 2 if they don't release any new high end devices. Unless Sony decides to price the Z line more aggressively in order to lure in sales. Maybe Sony believes that offsetting the launch date by 2 quarters will help with sales but then it goes up against the iphone and that's a losing battle. Perhaps a summer release could be an idea but doubt such a launch would change much in terms of tech, except perhaps maybe usb type c.

MT6755 is the Helio P10, wonder how it compares to the current batch of lower end qualcomm SoCs. Thanks maloqs. Btw any UAprof for the F51xx?

maybe that modem generates more heat than any other Qualcomm modem, so they need Sony who was able to cool SD810 to do it?

Anyone remember that announcement a few short months back that Sony will be building a manufacturing plant to make mobile phones?

A-huh A-huh! Now you see what's going down!

Reckon that there'll be any embargo / NDA for the press at Sony's MWC2016 keynote?

Serial leaker Evan Blass has posted an image of an Xperia PP10, he's not sure if it is the retail name or code name. Eldar Murtazin claims it is a code name. I tried to upload the image, can't get it to work, so here's the link:
