This is not a Samsung page ,if u have any respect to this z thread please write something ,not compare ,if you want to compare please move to some other sites,we are here to discuss about z ,and not Samsung,if you are so liking samsung check you tube go head and shave your self with design for humans.please dont trouble others .One rotten piece will spoil whole thread,if you still be arrogant,GUys time to ignore this eetaab and move on

No, because I dont need to. You've missed the point again. If we were to do that, we would see such evidence that the phone will be popular but nowhere near as much as a Galaxy S / iPhone / WP. Shipping numbers mean very little compared to actual sales which we will only see when the phone has been released for a minimum of around one month.
Why do you think posts on this very site get more discussion when they're about sales. Samsung recently announced they shipped 100 million Galaxy S devices. But thats not 100 milloon sold. Its industry jargon.
What makes me able to say Sony are wrong ? My opinion based on Sonys poor performance in the mobile division. The whole point of the forum is to talk and discuss our opinions.
Sadly everyone in this thread is missing that key point. If we were to just chat about what we like and did not criticise these companies they would release poor quality devices that arent worth the money. But thankfully we do care which is why we discuss them. Or not in the case of the abusers.

To me the Z is just another Android phone. Nothing stands out. Theres no USP.

Those are just comments by a lot of fans, I doubt that is 3million individual people either, it's similar to using GSMArena's rankings to gauge if the phone will be a success, these are comments and views by fans some of whom wont even put money where their mouths are, if the promo videos and GSMArena's rankings were an indication of success then phones like the Palm Pre, and Nokia N9, would have been runaway successes.
A few years ago there was another major SE fan who came on here and boasted about the SE K850i's huge amount of support by GSMArena commenters, the K850 managed to get to No.1, but in reality it was trampled by the Nokia N82 and N95, I just don't get what these YouTube views and GSMArena rankings mean in the bigger picture when they hardly ever translate into sales or profit.

@ Xajel - but its all relevant to the Z.
Im here because I love mobile devices and at one point thought SE made the best phones. I also own a PS3 of which is my only gaming machine. When I heard Sony were in financial trouble I was devastated to think they may drop out of certain markets such as gaming.
Due to my interest in phones I'll discuss Sonys products till im blue in the face. Ill sing their praises for all the great products of theirs I love. But I will also criticise their products if they're going wrong.
Sony's recent statement that they're going to concentrate on higher end devices is a good one. But the Z doesnt stand out enough. I wish it did.

I know I've personally criticized Sony in most if not all of those threads, with the Xperia Z I'm seeing an almost exact repeat of the Xperia S debacle, although at least the Xperia Z has up to date HW unlike the S had when it arrived.
Xperia Z in my opinion is a gorgeous phone, as with most Sony/SE phones, but as Etaab says, there is no killer USP, we've already had waterproof phones, even high end ones e.g. Acro S, and it seems that just isn't a major need for many people, and it seems that Sony is using this as the phones main USP. By the time the Xperia Z does arrive we will have a number of 5inch HD1080p display phones already, and that goes for the rest of what it brings to the table.
I wish Sony had brought some more interesting software in the Z, with the hardware that it has I'm pretty sure there's plenty room and power to show us something spectacular, in the same way that Samsung showed us the power of the Exynos 4 Dual and Exynos 4 Quad with Multi-window multitasking and pop-up play, Sony could've showed us something just as great and seeing as Sony are known for photography, why not be the one OEM who takes the risk and throws in a Xenon flash, that would make the Z stand far out the crowd for not just for Android users but for Symbian, WP, and other users. Seems to me Sony aren't that serious about challenging Apple and Samsung.
As a Samsung user I don't feel "threatened" ,how could I? I'm a consumer, if I see a better product from another maker I have the power to go for it, as I did when I jumped from SE to Samsung, it was painless and worth it and I get a strong feeling that Samsung and Htc are preparing some major devices that will stand out, and lets not forget Apple, who are apparently facing a slump with iPhone5 sales, you best believe they are hard at work with the next iPhone, when you look at all this together you begin to wonder if the Xperia Z will withstand the competition, and the fact that Sony ALREADY have a H2 flagship in the works gives the impression that they themselves don't have much confidence in the Xperia Z themselves.

You tell me of another true flagship that is water-resistance/dust-resistance?
You tell me of another Android/Windows phone that has a premium feel to compete with the iPhone?
You tell me of another Android that is as good-looking and classy as the Z?
You tell me of another Android that has HDR video recording?
Or a famous world-wide one with as close to vanilla Android but with additional functionality?

Apple released the iPad pretty soon too. You're telling me they didn't have confidence in that? Typical Sony for 2 flagships per year, 6 months product cycles, what's wrong with that?
Also, it seems Sony will have 1 flagship per year from next year, the successor to the 2H flagship, so no problem there.

A lot of the Samsung software features introduced in the Galaxy s3 were highly gimmicky. I mean, Smart Stay etc etc. It wouldnt be so bad if it worked ALL the time. None of this once in 3 tries nonsense. This talk of them being innovative is rubbish. My Samsung smart tv is not far behind, motion and voice control?? Please, Samsung, make them reliable at least.
And yes. ive used the s3, extensively, and the s3 4g, and note 2, and s2 4g etc etc. Ive worked in telco for years and am constantly using the new products. And I currently use a blackberry so Im not favouring anyone...
Im not one to get into any great debates, and I am not trying to here. Im just pointing out that minor fact. I think we have reached a point where innovation is slowing down, at least for a little. If theres a software feature you need, well, there is most likely an app for it.

@the other guy Is it that hard to just copy and paste my name? Didn't realise we have reached such a level of disrespect in this forum, how things have changed....its a damn shame.
You cant compare a tablets release cycles to a phone's, but the iPad3 did have major problems, so yes, i think Apple lost confiedence in it as it was going to be a PR nightmare at some so they completely discontinued it the day they launched iPad4.
Yes there is a problem, until its officially stated that there will be one flagship a year people will be cautious of getting a Sony smartphone.

Oh yes, i can just see the crowds queuing up for these features....One Touch Nfc sharing??? Is this when you tap the two phones together and touch what you want to share on the screen? If so, its nothing unique

I think people are mistaken, thinking that there will be a phone in the near future that surprises us with the new "killer" feature thingy like the Iphone did 5 yrs back. It´s about evolution now like in the PC world.
So to complain that the Z doesnt stand out enough is understandable but also a little innocent.
It´s about the overall package and I doubt that there will be any phone that will easily trump the Z in regard of that overall impression!
I for one waited for literally yrs to finally see one phone emerge on the market that has the class and feel of the iPhone! Z seems to have that. A killer feature for me! | |
