@Eric's Son

Is that really the best you can come up with? it really shows your lack of intelligence off so well.

Some good points there Marc. However I still feel you are an atypical user, and your gripes shouldn't necessarily mean SE is negligent. HSDPA isn't even utilised by most 3G networks. Most 3G networks still only operate at 384Kbps, achievable on non-hsdpa handsets.

Re: wifi b standard - most public wifi spots, and all consumer home wifi access points, are backwards compatible and support b devices, so it's not accurate to claim that b devices are unusable. They are slower only. In regards to public wifi access points, the speed of the b standard is faster than the internet speed on offer, so you are not really losing anything by having a b device. Eventually it will become a bottleneck, but for now it's mostly theoretical.

So I agree technically with your points, but I believe it's only a small group of users who are currently ACTUALLY affected by these technical limitations.

SE's strategy at the moment is to support advanced technologies as the demand becomes more mainstream. This is so they can concnetrate on expansion of the mid range market. I sincerely believe this is an intermediate strategy and not necessarily a sign that SE have permanently abandoned the leading edge.

On camera phones and music phones, I believe they have maintained the leading edge (not on video true - but digital camera is not a video camera - I believe SE market research indicates that consumers are lenient in terms of video reocrding requirements but demanding in terms of still cameras).

So I understand your disappointment, but don't agree that your points are a valid argument that SE have betrayed you. Consumers in the mid-range market have been betrayed by SE for years, so what goes around comes around.

the headline of the thread is still completey misleading.

Sonyericsson maybe not do phones with a lot of special functions like Nokia, BUT they make phones with awesome quality, awesome design, good price, stable software........and so on.

Nokia phones was world-leading for ~5 years ago, but since t610i came out, Nokia has manufacture a lot of shitty phones.

for god sake, take a look at N95, you can think its a joke. the most ugly, unstable, cracky, plastic phone in the history.

compare N95 vs k810...........do i have to say any more....

nokia is still world leading, world leading means the one who sells the most and N95 is selling like hot cakes despite its over the top price. I dont know, maybe you got hold of a bad N95 and thereon decided to bash Nokia for as long as you live, but the N95 i used, K810 doesnt even come close, not in anything.

He forgets about the EROM problem, and crappy joystick. This guy is fifteen and still lives in his parents basement. The best to do is to simply ignore him from now on as none of his comments make any sense or have importance.

Hi all,

Yet again can we please stop this Nokia is no better look what they do as this is not relevant to what we are trying to discuss here that is a different subject some one can start a whats wrong with Nokia thread and we can discuss that there.

@ MAX

I purposely did not mention camera's as IMO this is never going to be as good as a stand alone solution and therefore for me is not a primary factor although most high end devices come with a decent camera more than capable of taking a reasonable picture in most conditions.

On WiFi b versus g as i said this really is not a speed issue but compatibility issue and as n is becoming more established i think you will find b being used far less which will not be good for b equipped only devices. HSDPA is being implemented by more and more Networks and is a major enhancement for Data services and devices. As i have said i definitely would not consider any device that does not have this included in it's spec.

The other points i have raised are also more than valid would you buy a non HDtv now even though a conventional CRT is so much cheaper and does as good a job worth most material i some how doubt it as it is old tech now and will not perform well enough with the new systems coming on line. It is the same with mobile comms my next device will be the last with the current OMAP chip as the 3rd generation chip is on its way with even greater improvements you can read about it here to see what it will start to bring to our devices.

I may not be the A typical consumer but i am certainly not alone in what i want and although i don't expect the E90 to sell as well as the N95 has. I have every little doubt that the E90 will be the best selling communicator device so far by a long way. As it really is going to be offering something very special and is without out a doubt the most advanced Symbian smart phone to date and this also is not just my opinion but from those that have been lucky enough to review it.

I really don't get why SE are not producing devices of this quality and to say they are is not backed up with any devices. They really do need to refresh the components they are using or they will find they have even less of a market as people will go else where to get the performance they want. The only bit of new tech added to the P1 is a better screen to try and handle sunlight and 64mb Ram otherwise all the internals as are still based on what was in the P910 what progress is that using 3-4 year old chips and graphics it is most certainly very outdated now and lacking in performance.

A p1i with hsdpa, gps, 330mhz processor and full graphics chip is a E90 in half the size and half the weight with added touchscreen support.

How much does the e90 cost offline and how much would you price this device offline??

joystick problem on k800/k810 ????? (come on now, you know better then so).

the "only" SE phone who have big joystick problems was/is k750i.

k800i has a new joystick "plate" (cant the english word for it), and k810i has even newer joystick then k800. NON of the k8xx models has big problems with the joystick. (really ridiculous statement of you).

edit. sapporobaby, he he he. fifteen years old ! (i have a 5 year old daughter and have been traveling around the world some years, im nearlly 30 years soon).

is still making good phones, no better or worse than other manufacturers. That was the reason they were growing in the last quarter.

If the P1 came with the things you mention even with out the GPS that would certainly of grabbed my attention. I really don't understand why as it is going to arrive 1 year after the initial UIQ3 devices it doesn't have a greatly improved spec as it is meant to be the next generation surely that is what it deserves and IMO would of put SE up there with their competition.

As yet no one is sure just how much the E90 will be but it is already in the coming soon section for 02 so will be available with contract. Just a shame no one on 02 will be using it with their insane Data charges. I am very likely to buy it from on 02 and then just debrand it and use it with my T-Mobile Web N Walk Sim.

Currently 800 Euro here in Finland without a contract. Let me know if you want me to send you one. By the way, it is sweet. Played with one a few days ago. Very nice. Nokia should do quite nicely with this Communicator. SE will be hard pressed to match it and will be playing catch-up from here on out.

Really. Where does he work considering I am going to a meeting with Nokia tomorrow. Which town and by the way I thought Nokia was a Finnish government invention (so to speak) after the fall of the Communism and the Soviets. Maybe you also remember that at one time, Nokia was almost purchased by L.M. Ericsson, but then came the 2110 and 2110i and the rest is history.
