I contacted SE about this fault which I originally brought up in the expansys
forum (see http://www.expansys.com/forumthread.asp?code=129336&thread=433).
This is what I eventually got back:
"With regards to your enquiry, this issue is not a common fault on the Sony
Ericsson W810i with R4DB005 software installed.
Please try removing the picture from the contact and reapplying it.
If this does not solve the issue, please try a master reset of your handset to
help rectify the issue (information below) or Update your handset again using
the Sony Ericsson Update Service."
I've tried the remove/reapply picture and re-updating to no avail. Don't really fancy the
master reset as the hassle of setting it all up again seems greater than the loss of
the contact picture... |

I also notice that pictures come up very slowly in the gallery with the newest FW. Anyone else notice that? |

I don't get that. It works fine for me with that firmware.
Anyone knows if PC Suite MUST be installed when upgradeing firmware? Read that somewhere but it sounds unnecessary...

Only the 2 mpix photos because they are a little bigger. But it was the same with the earlier firmware for me.

2 see the clock in standby mode you need to press the volume button. |

Hey all,
I'm really dissapointed about the fact there is no sleep mode clock feature on my new w810i, which even the k750i had.
I don't like having to push the volume or walkman keys to see the clock and check if there are messages.. not a fan of the plain black screen in standby.
Is there any way to add the sleep mode clock feature? Is it being planned for future firmware?

After barely two months of usage, my w810i crashed so i had it reprogrammed but then after that, the fm radio isn't working anymore. the radio menu still opens when i insert the headset but it gets no reception (as in nothing!) anymore and the frequency is stucked at 90mhz, it doesn't move further on.
i dunno if it has something to do with a problem on the software (coz of the re-programming done) or worse, a hardware problem (but after reading the posts here i think that it has to do with the software.)
the version in my fone now is R4CA026. I dunno if it's the right version.
i didn't check the previous version before it crashed so i wouldn't know if my version now is different.
i was really disappointed coz now i know that many people have the same experience on w810i crashing and all the bugs!. i used to believe that this is a great fone but then again, with all the problems it's causing me right now, i am having second thoughts about it.

you get it reflashed, not reprogrammed
You say it now has R4CA? the release firmware version is R4CE, and what you have is pre-release/beta firmware and i wouldnt be surprised if more than the radio part doesnt work. try SEUS first (details of the stuff you need to download is in the first page of this thread). if that doesnt work, i can help you with davinciteam; we can prolly meet in starbucks eastwood (i work somewhere around the area) and you can bring a laptop (wifi spots abound.. wheee!)
it is a great phone. i've had mine for 4 months, dropped it thrice from 4 feet above the solid ground and had absolutely no issues with it. well, except for the exposed lens.

After browsing forums for hours now, i pretty have much more idea on how complicated this fone is. darn!
U're right, i also learned that the version i have now is the oldest there is and the technician who flashed it said that they only have two versions (the other one won't work with my fone) available, i went to him last night (@robinson's place-malate) and stayed with him for 3 hrs as he flashed my fone twice, still the radio isn't working.
One of my officemates has the DaVinci package and i texted him to ask what his version is and he said R4DB005. I want to try that software (if possible, for free). Will u really help me with it?
There is a problem with the laptop coz i don't have one but i can do it in the office(i have internet access there) if you can only show me how to do it please. I work somewhere in malate. Are u also at home right now? I can meet u tomorrow if it's convenuient for u. Thanks a lot! Btw, are u a male or a female? =) Thanks again.

yep, i've got the 005 fw on my orange 810 and it also does not accept caller pic until call established! oh well, more bugs!

well, had the bug on my wifes 810 but not on mine(both on 005 fw) used seus to re-install 005 on her phone and now it works fine (NO master reset needed!) |
