awesome.
really looking forward to seeing what this update has..
i wish sony would publish "what's new" for every update they release. Even if its just "bug fixes and optimization" for minor updates.
I would think that if they did update the camera software with this firmware version, they would have released some kind of feature highlight for this like they have for other major updates in the past. but we'll see.
@MNX - yes! good choice for us to import our phones. I hate branding..
For those americans wanting a magnetic dock.. looks like we can finally get one!

btw.. has anyone who ordered from handtec received their smartwatch yet? it is showing in stock again.. but just curious if anyone got one from the first batch. hopefully, this 2nd batch of stock will fulfill the rest of our orders..

@mnx - yeah.. i guess handtec didn't receive enough stock the first time to fulfill all the Z1 orders, so they had to reorder more stock. I'm hoping i'll get one of the 2nd batch of stock that just came in.
how are you liking it? were you going to get one before getting it for free?

Question: the firmware updates can be downloaded from Sony website or are pushed by individual carriers?
Does a firmware update has anything to do with carriers apps anyway?

@moogoo Nope, I will never pay $200 for a piece of accessory. Though, I have to say that the SmartWatch 2 is very convenient, at least for me. I can change tracks and volume without taking my phone out of my pocket, very useful during crowded train rides. Preview notifications allowed me to looked at my phone less. Didn't need to check my phone every time I feel vibration or hear something.
@shotokan Once you're using a carrier branded phone, all updates are at the carrier's mercy.

Thanks MNX,
But with the firmware out now, I can still expect to have it in the Z1 that will start selling in Oct 24 at docomo?
Or unlikely as it is already in the box on it's way to the docomo shop?
Also, I am missing the page where one listed the different C690X for each region.
Could someone be nice enough to post the list?
I would like to know in particular what is the one in Japan, and if it is different between docomo and au.

I think the move from G.1 to G.2 shows that the update is big or major.

@Shotokan
C6902 - HSPA+ Only
L39H - Same as the above, but China Designated
C6906 - LTE, NA Designated
C6903 - LTE, Europe Designated
C6943 - Same as the above aside, but based on white paper, no H.265 encoding
SOL32 - AU KDDI
SO-01F - Docomo
The model number for Sony phones are carrier specific in Japan and does not follow conventional model numbers for other parts of the world. Linked to each model numbers are their respective white paper. Couldn't find the white paper for Docomo's or AU KDDI's model, so no idea what are the difference aside from branding and carrier apps. Sorry.

@MNX - yea my feelings exactly. I am hoping it will help me check my phone less, which will be great for in the car. I also want to check out the remote camera app as I've got a tripod holster for my Z1 and a "put almost anywhere" type tripod. It'll help take some fun shots I couldn't get normally. I just love watches too, so I'm looking forward to having a new one to wear..
@shotokan - i believe Asia gets C6902.. europe/global is C6903, North America is C6906. Those are the LTE models.
@gitaroo - as myP910 said.. the change from G.1 to G.2 shows a fairly decent update. With every increase to the number/letter to the right, the bigger the change.

I thought C903 is the only one that does H 265 decoding. Non of them does encoding?

For those who are interested in some of the shots I've took on my Z1. Here it is:

By the way, with some of the photos, you'll see how the Z1 dealt with strong backlights.
