@marlonski, quite right about the noiseware - I'm impressed with it for many uses, but often a picture just can't be de-noised without losing significant detail.

The tree. very original. You're obviously good at thinking outside the box - I'd never even thought to do a vertical pan. Ideal for those huge old trees, captures the magnificance and the detail. Usually to get the whole tree on a non-pan shot you'd have to stand so far away the detail is lost..

@dr_thug, missed that somehow. Waterfalls are another great use of panorama mode.

The only problem I see with panorama vertical is the different exposure from top to bottom - maybe that can be allowed for by changing the exposure for each frame?

A good enough excuse to go experiment with some vertical's..

Afternoon, fellas!

@marlonski - I hate to break it to ya mate, but your "special forces" don't look like it can scare a 70-pound boy. And with a harmless dog like that... Nice vertical pano. However Max is right, the different exposures can be seen due to diff. lighting conditions top to bottom.

@max - When you say adjusting the exposure (as in your very nice moon shots), do you mean using the volume button, i.e., brightness adjustment? Btw, I used Neat Image to cut down on the noise a bit but not too much -- I actually like the noise on b&w pics. But for the mother/baby pic I didn't do any noise reduction. I blurred that shot by walking fast by them, giving it a "charcoal painting" effect.

I think it was @carkitter who first posted a vertical panorama many pages back. Then doc thug with the waterfalls.

@ciberknight - Nice sunset shot! We have a place here called Fort Bonifacio and it looks very similar to where you took your pic.

@blackspot's away from his pc today, it's a Saturday @mrao, care for some samosa?

@mrao, I was playing with the gitmyster in my garden and he happened to pick the plant pot up that way, the pictures deceptive, he had it in his mouth

@ciber @max, thanks guys
the tree almost came alive when I walked past it, agree, sometimes noiseware just kills a picture.

@dr_thug, it was your vertical shot a couple of pages ago that inspired me to use the pan that way

@chili, agree, taking this type of shot picks up the different levels of light, in the case of the tree, the whereabouts of the sun in relation to where I was taking the picture from, the reflection of light through the branches and so on. The other issue I have found with the pan mode is an element of luck is required to both match the light conditions , and sometimes trying to match the last section of a picture, and in some cases, with the sun refecting on the k700's screen almost impossible. But hey, thats all part of the fun

Special forces outfit, thats me winter 'walk the dog outfit', I posted the picture of me in my special ops above that one, only problem was it's too stealth for you guys to see it !! as for my dog mate, he would lick you to death

Catching a few Zzzs...... and me catching him ! I like to call this a 'power nap'

@chili, correcto mundo. Through the binocs (now a monoc!) I found that on normal exposure the moon was a big white blob of light - no detail.

With practice I hope to get my technique better, and I should be able to get even better detail, and reduce the reflected images somewhat (although they look very spectacular)

The problem is getting the monocular eye piece just the right distance and angle to the lense..

@marlonski - Very nice, very clean b&w pic! Captured the nap moment perfectly, yet at the same time the gentleman in the photo looked impeccable, with his dress shirt and slicked-back hair.

@max - We'll be eagerly awaiting yours and blackspot's celestial photos

I took these photos some days ago, within minutes of each other. It was morning. What struck me about the three of them was that they were determined to get their sleep, regardless of where they were, and no one would have dared rouse them. My shutter sound was never a liability this time.

Here's some more experimental moon shots..

In this instance I'm getting reflected light from inside the lense creating a ghost image of the moon that actually has visible detail, as opposed to the actual moon, which is just a big white glare..

and here

I forgot I had the cam on low res and by the time I was back on vga, clouds had come in, but cut the glare sufficiently to reveal detail also:

just curious... does it really make a big difference if you set the k700i's picture quality to FINE from NORMAL?
SE T68i (Feb2004-May2004)
SE T610 (Sep2004-Jun2005)
SE K700i (Jun2005-Sep2005)

yes. Fine mode uses less compression, so there are less obvious compression artifacts in the picture (distortion and fuzziness). Basically, fine mode recommened unless you only view the pics on the phone.

the latest evictee of Australian Big Brother, Christie.

Cute. She added spark to the house. Damn shame Australia saw fit to vote her out...

(Not that I'm one of those BB freaks, promise.... )

And more moon shots..I've got the technique as good as it'll get with that lense.
This is the best detail I could get:

and this is a wicked red blue and grey tripple Moon shot!

this is my first time imageshack use - hope it works
