@max_wedge, cheers man, yep have to agree, panoramic is a great way to capture a group of people, but you have to be very quick or you end up with what I like to call 'ghosting', here's a few examples taken that haven't quite worked out...
this one taken last dec, after a night of excess....
Friday's usually a quick couple of pints after work with the boys, difficult when your trying to join a picture (especially after a few beers !) and the buggers move !
Some ex work buddy's, filling our faces, same problem again !

@mrao suppose your right mate, was around 4am though !
I've posted this one before, but have used imageshack this time for full effect. Only downside with posting at this size are that the imperfections become a lot easier to point out.

@blackspot - Excellent job, bud! Coconut from 5 kms away... Mind-boggling!
@marlonski, @max - Never mind the imperfections, all those panorama pics convey an atmosphere that a normal pic can't.
@ajape - Man, look at that beat-up Clancy book Do you work at home?

well I tried. Inspired by blackspot, I tried my binocs on the moon but couldn't get a stable or clear enough view.
Got some interesting results tho' The blue and the grey blobs below are an interesting double image of the moon with fine cloud. I had to drop the exposure all the way down, otherwise it was just a white blob..

@chili, agree mate, the panoramic is cool, and can really show off a situation, be it a social gathering a beautiful view or both
@dr_thug, thanks man on all accounts Yes I'm a very lucky man, my girls are both stunners ( deffinately get their looks from their father !! ) and are going to cause me problems when they're a little older and have most of my towns male population knocking on my door !!
I am currently having 'special forces' training and will be ready and waiting for that door bell to ring !
Couple of mates
Another family doo.

In the tradition of chilli's B&W life photos, I took this pic of a local fastfood while I was caught in traffic in a taxi.
then this kid came by the window apparently caroling (I was surprised too, it's still July ) so I took his picture
so he got curious and I showed him his face in my phone, then he left me with a pure, unadulterated and contagious smile.
I couldn't help but smile the rest of the way -- I felt really happy.
resistance is futile. |

@blackspot, thanks for sharing the joy! Kid's have no reservations, it's a wonderfull thing.
@marlonski, your daughters are too beautiful to have inherited their looks from you But then maybe that orange beard is throwing my judgement off
you've really got me going with those panorama shot's. Still haven't found a big group to panorama, but was experimenting on my Dad this morning.
I made a mistake (the second picture) which gave me an idea. The third is the result:
And here I am framed - looks like I belong there dunnit?

The person who is not a victim of poverty has a subconscious that works this way: It makes him ogle with admiration those whose socio-economic status is above him or at least equal to him; and it makes him ignore, in varying degrees, those whom he would consider living in subhuman conditions, reducing them to a faceless mass of living rags.
I chose to photograph these "sidewalk sitters" at night. I doubt if they could be more recognizable to most of us in daytime.
Here they are engaged in the most ordinary human activities: Exchanging stories, at the bridge; passing the time alone; and the mother, making her baby sleep.

I got a chance to do some group shots. A friends gallery opening.
and an interesting street:
@Chili that's an interesting technique you've used to portray the facelessness of the homeless to society - one thing I noticed was that while looking at it, I was actually curious about the detail - what were they doing, what they looked like. So the technique enhances by obscuring.

@max_w yes mate, i think my girls get their looks from their mother ! like the first set of pan shots, not sure you should be looking sooo happy behind those bars though mate
Second set of pan shots at the gallery very good mate as is the street ;
@ciber, nice sunset shot mate !
@chil, interesting shots, did you touch up with noisware software ?
Couple taken earlier this evening....was walking and caught this tree and had to take a few shots, one coloured, one b&w and a pan.
I had a look at both of these in my noiseware software but decided not to do anything as it just took too much detail out.
pan shot.....
and last but not least pip the 'gitmyster' looking like a right knobjockey
