Ou sorry, I had something mixed up. I have 3.7 and I download 3.71. Not 2.7 and 2.71. Thou I would like to know the changes in 3.71 so I know if I need to update the 3.7 driver. I don't want to do it because its kind of slow for me, so if there is something good in it then I will probably do it.
Again, about the software thing. If phone can't compress 320x240 then maybe software can? Just make it capture pics at VGA quality and codec it separately in software. It should be possible. And thus, even 2mp and 3mp quality should be possible (thou it would be an overkill because phones cpu isn't that fast), but VGA could be possible. Can somebody confirm that this is possible? |

Latest original versions for K790/K800/K810 are Evita 2.5 or Wilma 2.5
They are identical, the title is only difference.
You can find `em here:

Is there a Cam driver, which has got no 'super mode', I just need finer point and shoot settings, I would like to use all of the shoot and scenes modes as I do on the original one, I do not need more functionality, just some fine settings of the standard modes. |

It's funny:
Raiderski and Withan have ~70kb
Goldmix and N1 have ~260kb
It`s most likely because of the difference in JPEG compression settings... |

yes but biggest size=more quality ?? |

It`s not necessary...
But in most cases could be cause for bigger noise or camera crashes...
Raiderski`s explanation of JPEG compression:
On 2008-07-30 23:56:05, Raiderski wrote:
SE phones are equipped in very nice algorithm and great feature - variable compression. it is seeking the best quality % level. question: seeking? yes, this means that quality of all your pictures can be different (therefore name is variable compression). question: so, what for is 91% quality defined in driver? well, this is nothing more than simple tip for the algorithm, in this way it knows where to start process of seeking. question: ok, it knows where to start but where it ends? it's trying to predict jpeg file size with various combinations of quality % levels. predicted file size is then compared to jpeg file size rules (defined by modders in driver). if comparision will be positive then jpeg can be created, otherwise quality % level is increased (if predicted result is below defined file size rules) or decreased (if predicted result is above defined file size rules) for next file size prediction. question: does this means that defined file size rules in driver are major parameters? yes, they are, quality % level will be adequate to max file size we want to have. you can set in driver quality 100% but in fact this level of quality is unreachable in 900kb file (you can check this with EXIF readers). question: no matter of what can I set quality 100%? yes you can but for what? this is only initial stress for compression algorithm and it will blow out into dust your dreams about 100% quality
my observations:
- average file size is ~820kb (many folders, more than 100 files in each folder)
- average file size of shots with flash or low detailed scenery is ~680kb
so, I can push the rules a bit higher in next version. top quality range 90 - 95% in cameraphone? madness! with SE you guys are really in jpeg's compression heaven even if you don't believe

well, if you want to compare you must assure very similar conditions especially when your scene have wide range of luminosity (very bright window and dark room in your case). look at photos - the are taken from different positions and angles. why is this so much important? because this kind of divergences have major influence on autofocus and on autoexposure when luminosity range is very wide (like on your scene). different autoexposure levels will give you different results. small example...
two pics merged, as you can see they are really different
sorry but your test isn't authoritative
EDIT: why picture from Vudu is the best? because very bright spot from window is smallest on this picture. less overexposure = more details in dark parts of the picture
