could be my imagination but I am starting to think my screen is getting a yellow hue over time
I was gaming today and my phone got quite hot - is this a panel glue issue brought on by heat
hmmmmm
now I'm really confused - my screen today is so white and bright that it was hurting my eyes to look at it first thing this morning - it definitely was not like that last night when I posted the above post |

Vikeviki, it seems you are not alone with the overheating issue.
See this link from the sony mobile website:
http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5[....]RIA-z1-getting-hot/td-p/386739
I also saw similar feedback on Japanese websites from people who tested display models.
There are two hypothesis:
- A firmware problem (a bug)
- A design problem (hardware)
In case it is a firmware bug, it would be good that Sony communicates on it, and confirms it is a firmware problem.
So people would be angry, but not completely mad as if it is a hardware problem.
It would be even better that phone makers releases phones after they are ready.
If this is a design problem (the longer Sony waits to communicate, the more likely i will suspect it is), then they will not be able to fix it easilly. In this case, my guess would be: it was too ambitious to pack a snapdragon 800 in a water and dust proof thin glass box. A fix could be to underclock the s800 (or set the limit lower) to make it more similar to a s4 or s600 heat wise. But this may not fix the part due to the thin glass casing and would come at the expense of performance.
With the screen lottery and uneven parts assembly, I will wait and see a little more...
Moogoo and all, what is your experience, did you experience heat issues?
my phone gets hot but I expect it to get hot when considering the hardware inside - it does not get hot were I can't touch it, the reality is we are dealing with a high performance device - I have heard many times people getting alarmed when the phone does this but trying to tell them is is normal doesn't seem to work |

why is it that we as owners of the Z1 are able to take much better quality pictures that we see in many reviews, that is a real puzzle to me |

Because when the users get the phone, they spend more quality time getting used to it and learning to taking better pictures. Its the same story every time a high end cameraphone is released.
Im never impressed by a phones camera usually until its been out a month or two, unless its a pureview device.

i shoot in manual mode, most reviews shots in superior auto.
while superior auto produces very decent shots, if you have the time to play with manual mode, you will get some really awesome and perfect shots! this phone is capable, it has a ultra quality lens and sensor combinations.
looking forward for next update to see how they can improve the noise handling in 20mp. |

And the results are clear!! The Z1 blow away the competition when used correctly! Except for the pureview:)
These are great shots, way better than I expected... I'm really looking forward to the next big update for the camera (if it will ever come :/ ) to see how much it will be an improvement! And also to the 4.3 JB or directly 4.4 KK updates... To see what Sony will bring to the table in terms of UI and new function/app...! |

Xperia Z1 owners!
How do you protect your phone?
I found two links on kakaku.com for tempered glass protectors.
Wondering how it does with the fingerprint, has anyone ever tried?
The 2ndd link contains a video showing how it works on the iphone.
This is great it is available for Xperia z1 as well!

Edit: they say it may not fit the dock charger once put on.
Ayone with feedback please share!

i dont know what to do, i really need to tilt the device at extreme angle to see the dirt, it's not on the lens, its just there...
what do you think ? should i exchange it ?
it's not on the lens, nor the glass.
its on the black sorrunding the lens, and i can't understand it its a dirt or a scratch!

Dirt inside the camera would explain why GSM arenas unit had a blurry side. There were also someone here, i think it was MNX1024 that had the same issue.
Btw, my Z1 is in for service/repair. I have had random restarts and one time I had a black screen but the backlight was on and it was kind of freezed like that. Two days ago it suddenly turned off and I couldn't turn it on again. I'll guess the risk for early adopters getting a faulty units is higher than late adopters regardless of brand. Nonetheless its a bit frustrating, but hey, its just a phone that either will be replaced or come back repaired |
