I like Darren have a debranded K800i, originally O2.
I had updated to R1JC002 via FOTA and am now in the process of using FOTA again seemingly to R1JG001. I get £5.00 of my bill each month for GPRS so it should be ok. |

Just out of curiosity did a FOTA check 3 days ago and got R1JG001.
As I've got an O2 UK 3G tariff it took no time at all.
So far haven't found anything to note as changed from R1JC002. |

so waht does FOTA stand for? I thought this was something like Wotan? but it sounds like it's the phones built in updater? and you can use it with BT PAN?!?! yay I may be getting the new firmware tonight!! (pending FOTA is what it sounds like it is...)
another question, do you think this will be the last update? (R1JC002) will k800i FW's be abandoned due to age? I've never read, are older phones like k750 still getting updates?

Oh no, Dont like Branding. Although o2 branding is minimul and was no problem at all. But i like the play now function so that was it of it went, lol 
o2 are the best for non branding there phone and on contract not locking them. So hats of to them. If they can have he phone how SE made it, why cant other networks!
I had a Orange Branded phone (K750)and god that was awful, that went as soon as it came out of the box, infact i didnt even switch the phone on.
When i got it from the shop, the person asked if i wanted to look at the phone, I told nope i hate the orange branding, but in 30 mins it will back to how SE had intended the phone to be. The guy looked very confused but said well our services wont work, I told him oh yes they do and showed him my other phone. He took one look at the phone and said, wow is that what its supposed to look like. I just shook yep. * How God intended it to be * and told him how to debrand hi phone and the website. Another happy person lol.
Any way, use the update serivce on the phone the phone will update to the latest revision.
** People who have Orange and 3 branded phones. Sorry you can't do this, as your network removed the function **
I cant say for Vodafone, or t-mobile. i dont know if the function has been removed or not.
O2 and Genric phones should have the function and should have no problems at all.  See How god intended the phone to be

FOTA. = Firmware Over the Air-update.
Click on Menu
Then go to settings (The Spanner Icon)
nd in genral scroll down until it says Update service.
If it isnt there. You network has removed it

Yes, and FOTA does not work for all regions! I have never got any new firmware anytime I run FOTA. So, it's region-based program. |

My phone does have the option, and i know it has worked before, because once it told me there was a update of 36mb!! but i wasn't paying for that.
just tried it over the FOTA, and it says I already have the latest FW R1GB001. So apparently not available in USA at this time... Figures, we are last on everything.

Have the UK service providers given up on firmware updates then? Doesn't seem to have been one released for ages (unless page 1 isn't up to date of course) |
