Another Review from PhoneArena

http://www.phonearena.com/htmls/Sony-Ericsson-Xperia-X10-Review-review-r_2405-p_1.html

Messages are visualized in threaded style, which is very convenient indeed. However, we just don’t have a clue why you don’t have access to the landscape QWERTY layout when typing in a text message, while the layout is at your disposal to compose emails.

What is the deal with that? Software issue?

Not the case here

@Domipost, so you really do like it then. How does the cam UI compare to the C range? It looks good enough in the vids etc to me, but you have used it?

It works good and looks verry nice, but there are two issues. It takes a while to open TimeScape and secondly it's not possible to retweet things, react to anything in timescape etc. It's only something where you can read, it does forward you to web (or mail app, mediascape etc.) when you click an item, which is a pity

Ya. Apparently the lack of landscape keyboard in SMS messenger app was a bug in the pre-release firmware that went out to all the testers (never understood why companies send pre-release stuff to reviewers, as there are always bugs that make the reviews look worse than the shipping product). Anyway it's supposedly fixed in the release firmware.

Wow that's some crazed post! Possibly a good example of a "mindless fanatic" too!

Anyway, glad to see the phone is on its way. Really want to get one in my hands first though and see how it handles. Ive registered my interest with Orange but still can't decided on white or black!

was that from mobiles.co.uk?

Was going to order that deal, however, internet access isn't included as standard - need to pay an extra £7.50p/m . They've a similar deal pricing the handset at £79.99 and £40.00p/m which prices everything £559.99 for the year with the 300 minutes, unlimited text, and 500mb p/m data.

This compares to £609.99 on the £35p/m contract if you also take out the data and £720 on a £30p/m 24 month contract (o2, Phones4u) with the handset free. For me, the 12 month £40 p/m was definitely the best option so I can get something new and shiney sooner!

@Domipost
Thanks for the info. Really the cam that is of most concern to me... I am not really fussed about Facebook/Twitter. I do like the idea of having all comms aggregated in a threaded way though, which is how i took TS to work, and sounds like that's right. I guess that's another score for Multi-Tasking though, you can leave TS running in the background and write the response/look up the location in another app, without having to lose your place in either, in much the way that I use Opera Mini on my C905.

Free on O2 from £30p.m. @ phones 4 U is v promising....

There is a landscape qwerty issue in the retail units but I'm sure you'll get a fix. Also, at times you get this total pain in the ass slowdown. Its 100% software issue and the sooner the 2.1 upgrade comes the better however, nobody knows when that will happen and my source doesn't say anything about it. I personally think the build quality is great and I'm seriously rough on my phones, it's also very pretty to look at. I absolutely love the camera and all the little features throughout the device, it's all really cool stuff.

The one and only reason that I will not get this is software because always gets it wrong and I bet (not putting any money down though) 2.1 will come out when everyone else in on 2.5 or something. How is it possible to get slowdown with such a powerful processor and with so much time to get this released as well?

I wonder if the software slowdown has to do with background polling by Timescape/Mediascape?
