Hi all. I used WotanClient to flash my K800i to the latest firmware last night, and I've had no problems (didn't realise it would perform a master reset, but I didn't lose anything vital).

I would like to ask some questions and make some suggestions though:

1. The client should inform people that it will erase EVERYTHING and that people should backup before continuing. I know it should be obvious, but it caught me out and I'm reasonably tech-savvy.

2. Each firmware revision changes certain things. Is it possible to *turn off* some of the changes. For example, after flashing, my menu icons "bounce" large to small and back again. I didn't really want that, I prefer no icon animation -- so is there a way to undo or unset an option (and if not, can that flexibility be programed in?)

3. The backlight issue has to be one of the most frustrating things about this otherwise brilliant phone! The backlight will turn off after 10 seconds which sometimes isn't even long enough to think while composing a text sometimes. Can there be an option to extend the backlight time?

If not, can some enterprising soul write a Java app that could run in the background to manage the backlight, maybe dimming it after 30 seconds or so?

4. On my T610 moving the joystick would bring the phone out of standby. This doesn't happen on the K800i. Could that be an added option?

5. This phone doesn't have a very advanced contact manager -- that is, all contacts are in a long list with no grouping. However, you can set up groups if you go down a long menu path (I think the groups are for texting). As a workaround, I would like to make a shortcut to the groups menu, but can't as the GUI stands. Would it be possible to make the shortcut system more flexible and go to sub, or subsub menus?

6. Is it possible to put the "new contact" button at the bottom of the list or off the list altogether? How often does one really add a new contact?..

I know this are a lot of requests here. As a web designer/developer I do a lot of GUI and interaction testing and have ideas to offer, I just don't know if a) the ideas are possible to implement and b) if the Wotan guys will take suggestions on board? I'm really impressed that they can do what they do though, and I hope they're good guys who listen to what average users suggest?

Thanks everyone.

Sorry something happen in dSLR word that take my attention last few days.

1. Yeah I also suprised since I am used to SEUS and kulan&wotan completely reflash my wife's Z610. Thankfully I got older backup but newer contacts was gone.

2. No, you need customization (change some xml) for that and SE CID51 is secure enough that no software can do it yet. Hopefully within month it could be done.

3. I think as long as you pressing something (as when you are SMS-ing) the backlight will continue on? Mine did.

4. That a feature so that the phone LCD won't woke up easily in your pants. I think SE get it correct to preserve batt.

5. You have to ask SE to do that. But frankly why would you need group other than for sms? Not that you can talk to more than two person in the same time with GSM anyway.

6. Once in a while for me. Why it bother you to scroll just one step below? You can jump search names using the keys anyway. It does not really matter as you can jump to names start with D by pressing key 3 once.

OK, so R1JG001 is out. For those with this new firmware, please report any changes. Usually the date of f/w and also the f/w info or details. Don't just say a new f/w is out but leaving further info untouched. What we know so far FOTA is the only way to get it. Wotan, SEUS? No.

When I got R1GB I didn't experience that. Have you tried running SEUS? Just test it now. Who knows you have a new f/w update and report here.
