Many owners of the HTC Universal had similar problems when using the Power Save option (ie the device would not wake-up until the caller had heard two/three rings). There were also problems while working with the internet and the singal switching between GPRS and UMTS as it does when you're on a train. For me the switching caused email download to freeze the device. Most problems were fixed with firmware upgrades except the call wake-up issue and quality/strength of the BT signal.

Yes, this problem is avery serious one and it must be inherent to this type of device..
It is a pity because otherwise it is such a fun deviceto have..really special.. |

Expansys UK says EST 8 Days ... It was 1 Day today morning. Hmm .. the P990i, apart from being "P990i", is a technologically outdated phone.
1) I hear it is slow ...
2) 2MP Camera is pretty low quality (Nokia uses Carl Zeiss)
3) Screen resolution could have been more (Not as good as some of the recent Nokias)
4) The 5 way jog dial is no more, its 3 way.
5) p990i has completely lost its business phone look. It looks like a phone for uber-rich college kids to flaunt around. Its shape is bad, and looks bulky.
In spite of saying all this, I will still buy one as soon as it releases.

1)i can see on all videos that its really fast
2)2mp is not as much as others but the quality seems really good!
3)Nokia has changed its plans and will only do 320*240 from now on;no more higher res screens like n80...and the screen quality on my m600i is amazing so it should be the same on the p990i only bigger!
4)about the jog you re right - at least on the m600i - it s not as good as the one on the p900-910
5)again you are quite right even though looks are rather taste-dependent |

The P990 camera is better than the nokia 3 meg zeiss lens if you read Michal Jerz comparison on My-symbian.com, in a recent video clip the phone seemed very quick switching between programs.
The 5 way jog wheel may have been replaced by a 3 way but if you notice there are 2 extra buttons one either side of the jog wheel which probaly give you back the 5 way function

Already here mate, SFR vodafones French arm are offering 3g devices with sat nav now!
I have owned the ... T68i T610, P800, P900, P910, P990, W950, P1, W960 But SE have now totally lost the plot. |

im a rich schoolkid hwo gets it partly to show off.
however you cant argue that it i s the best compromise between a pda and phone and theres something special about it.

Called O2 the other day enquiring about the release date of the P990 in the UK (as I am eligible for an upgrade), and was told it's released on the 14th of August. Can anyone confirm they have heard this date too?

taste design dependant? what on EARTH are you boys ( Saumitra & corentin ) smokin cause I want some.
1) P800 was in a rich chicks candy-ass blue; that is NO business phone. P900 still didnt look the part because it was two toned (sorry those shoes & suits are out like the 60's & only shoes are in two-tone are for golf). P910 didnt look any more classy, again two toned. P990i one simple shade of silver (to those married silver represents companionship for several years, radio officianados know its black/silver nothing else). Rich kids that want style or fashion ignore substance and go for the Razr/Rzrr/Gzr/dzr whatever they all are.
5 way jog wheel I never seen present any major plus just a loose jog-wheel over time. besides keyboard is more functional & 5 way phonepad joypad is there that wasnt before. I think when apps arrive it'll hold its own.
EDGE/UMTS/HSDPA is no value when your provider either charges exorbitant rates ($100/100MB) or caps it before truely bending ya over (cap is 25MB on Rogers same price above)! Hence why I want WiFi is highly abundant and in the downtown core of Toronto 1 more month and a trail is FREE across the downtown core for 6 months SOLID! Ads can be bypass, lol. |
