i dont believe in it... SE cannot have such a bad design no ways look at p800/p9xx

if this is the design of se p1000 den SE iz definately gonna kill all the P series users because all have been waiting for outstanding p1000 and SE will loose P series fans... my garuntee if this is the P1000

not even a 12yr old kid wud also buy such a fukin dumb piece p1000

Common the best bit about the P serise is the fact that it still looks like a PHONE!!!!!
but performs like a PDA .

I hope that even when the p1000 comes out it still has the same PHONE!!! look about it

i think this is SE idea . Everone else has gone for the windows PDA with phone bits added. SE started with a PHONE!!! and this has been the reason its had and has still got a good following.
(the reason we love it)

want something new get the Orange SPV M5000 (not fit in your pocket look like a t**t talking into it)

a good point well made, skydiver.

mind you, I'll be disappointed if the rumored 3mp camera turns out to be 2mp, and I'll miss the jog-dial - those 5way buttons always fail regularly.

I think this phone will have the same cam as the k750 ( only 2mp ) may be a better one on the p1000 when we see it.
Looking at that button in the middle im not positive its a 5 way button yet . as for the jog-dial i only liked the scroll part and push in bit .The left and right part were hard to use for my big hands. It was only a good will gesture from ericsson to put it there anyhow (made sony feel thay did somthing .

As for the phone i think there is one big and VERY VERY important difference that every one is overlooking it does NOT run on Symbian 7.0 . It runs 9.1 this means lots of possible extras software and hardware wise .
I dont think it will run UIQ 2.1 because of this OS update so it must run on UIQ 3 or a new non touch screen interface.

i agree with skydiver...i tried using an imate jam after being a P900 user, eventually it came to a point where id prefer the fone first and pda functions second...not the other way around...

Me too! I will stick to the SE-way of building smartphones. Really nice!

Yup Symbian 9.1 and UIQ 3.0. That will mean that we will see problems with software. But UIQ 2.1 software will run on UIQ 3.0 with some minor adjustments. Unforteantely not major problems. There are some changes in API's that is all. The same with WM 5.0 and 2003 SE but then smaller.

Another problem is much larger and that is the signing issue. All apps running on Symbian 9.1 must be signed. That means the Symbian organisation needs to check each of them and gives them a certificate. It would take enormeous time of development and time before the app is on the market. Also small apps will go away because of the high signing costs. Small companies will also fall away. WM 5.0 will have the same issues.

There are also issues with the fact that updates also need to be signed again. That is really nice => NOT! It also means that the app needs to be finished completely first and then the signing issue can start. These issues are more dangerous than updates of the OS.

not quite

Probably the biggest change is at the security level. Previously, once an application was installed on your phone, it had full access to all the API’s in the OS (an API is like an index of functions a program can call. Sending an SMS would involve making an SMS API call for example). Now, applications do not have automatic access to all the API’s. Those involving critical functions (or which could run up your mobile bill) will now be restricted.

If your application is Symbian Signed, then the application will have full access to the API’s. If it is not signed, then the application on its own will not be able to call these API’s. Instead, the user will receive a prompt along the lines of “This Application Would Like to send an SMS. Give it permission to do so… Yes / No

so dont worry about that its only the call/sms and external gateway API's that are locked to unsigned software but even then it will askyou
