@onedoubles
I did not take it back. My problem was more or less solved by cleaning the pins.

hi folks!
this is my first post on this forum, as starting a couple of days ago, I am the owner of a K700i.
unfortunately it has the first version of firmware, and it reallly sux (compaired with 6600 for example).
by now its only advantages versus the symbian above are the wight and small size. in rest, only disadvantages.
for example, just today, my phone was blocked (yes like in windows, the screen was showing the same thing, and I could not do anything, not even close the mobile!) 4 times in 3 hours ! (one when receiving an email, a couple of times when sending a sms, and another time when loading a java).
the batery life suxx badly. I charged it 3 times in 2 days. I haven't listened to mp3-s more than 10 mins, 1 minute of video, around 50 pictures taken, bluetooth always on, a couple of hours of wap browsing, 3 times downloaded a couple of e-mails, 30 minutes of phone talk.
each charge was 4 hours.
how can this be? I am starting to regret the huge amount of money I have paid for this phone.
do you think that the latest firmware solves any of these problems? |

At Howards forum there is a poll concering the battery life with R2L. From that poll and above links I would say that battery seem to improve alot for most people.

Hi i have a k700i on the R2A firmwire on o2. i dont think i have experience hardly any of the problenms u guys speak about. Fair enough the battery life is definitely not that good (2 days for myself). But my bluetooth is workin fine. my phone has not frozen once. the menu is very responsive. And the phone itself is a very good phone. it looks good, has a good memory (although its not expandable its still 20 times more than the T610 had!) The ringtones are very good and can be set as MP3 (depending on network restrictions which i thankfully dont have!). The screen is very clear, bright and sharp.
I would not tell any1 out there not 2 buy this phone. compared to all the other competition as the moment (nokia 6230, 7610, motorola v80 and samsung e800, i think the sony ericsson is the better phone) so if u've been swayed against this phone by all the bad comments, i suggest you give it a try from a company that has a returns good policy of like 2 weeks or a month. that way you would be able 2 make ur own mind up. i am sure happy that i bought this phone!
Here ends the promotional message from the chair person of sony ericsson.......... Only kiddin! |

yes I have read those threads (i've searched), but i wanted more opinions, from the people which actually have / had these kind of problems (which can be found easily on this thread).
Anyway, thanks for the WARM welcome |

FIXED! Well, it looked my problem was a combination of a faulty charger and the old software. Now that both have been updated this phone is WAY BETTER... except for the piss poor battery life that is. Ah well, can't have it all I guess.... |

Well... The cheesecake has been experimenting with his K700i (R2A) and has come up with the following conclusions:
1. Animated wallpapers eats the battery! Yes, even when the screensaver is running... My guess is that the newer firmware turns off the animations whilst the screensaver is running and thus saves the battery... I'll check that once I finally find a SE centre close enough to Northampton, UK that answers their phones.. (Carphone Warehouse Milton Keynes, please answer the phone!!!)
2. MP3 ringtones don't help the battery either. Poly tones use a lot less power...
I rigged a simple meter between a fully charged battery and the K700i and watched the current. You wouldn't believe the current drawn by the animated screens... Stats, pics on a website to follow... |

Only problem I've just encountered is when I'm trying to run Super Real Tennis java game the phone restarts(unable to play the game or delete)
Looks like I need to go back and get the firmware updated again.
(Only had it done 3 days ago)
Apart from that a very great phone!!!
