Not as yet.
2013 Q3 Tablet shipments.
I find it strange that the Tablet Z, which has earned many accolades & has shown itself to be one of, if not THE best android tablet on the market currently, has not even managed to best Lenovo's 2.3 million Q3 2013 tablet shipments. I wonder how much of that 16.8 million shipments under Other might be Tablet Z?

Perhaps the price is an issue with the tablet Z, it is not cheap, and lenovo on the other hand has a lot of lower ends tablets which are much cheaper. So perhaps sony should invest a bit lower down market, with a 8 inch tablet perhaps? |

Re Smartwatches: I think the technology isn't up to par yet. Will need seriously bendable displays and great battery life. |

Tablet Z's issue was marketing or lack thereof. The price was ok as it was regarded as the best tablet of 2013.
Tablet Z 2 needs to step up the game and bring the stylus tech from Z Ultra and possibly even a bump in resolution so as to not appear to be behind competition (in my mind 1080p is enough but other's won't think so). I own a Tablet Z and it really is the bees knees and hands down the best purchase I've made for several years.

was hoping that they can go straight to 4.4, the performance upgrade it brings sounds great. |

My guess is that Sony will announce that 4.3 would be hitting early to mid November and 4.4 after CES or just before MWC. |

Intel to make quad-core 64-bit ARM chip
On Tuesday, Altera announced that its Stratix 10 system-on-a-chip (SoC) will incorporate a "high-performance, quad-core 64-bit ARM Cortex-A53 processor."
That chip will be manufactured for Altera by Intel on its most advanced 14-nanometer manufacturing process. Current Intel chips on the market, such as its Haswell processor, are made on a 22-nanometer process. Generally, the smaller the geometries, the more advanced the process.

You probably want to look to the Exynos 6 then, as this SoC is for industrial radios (crazy server routing and such).. the Exynos 6 is supposedly 14nm node as well but 4x4 (octa) A57.big/A53.LITTLE where CCI (hw limiting factor in the 5410 (S4), and corrected in the 5420(Note3) and the kernel (the cpu_freq tables specifically) will work, as well as a broader memory channel (up from 13GB/s)... sony also has the JDI arm that announced a 5.4" WQHD PixelEyes/WhiteMagic display.. so really we will see, as this year is a year where i dont see the market actors being in lock step this 1H refresh.. unlike this year where 1080p/SoC were standard (s600 1H/s800 2H), display res may change, some firms will miss the upgrade step and market some other aspect of the display because of the outcry of technophobes.. ('why, i cant see the pixels anymore...' crew). and the introduction of 64bit CPUs by samsung will beat qualcomm to the punch.. no timelines for new SoCs from them (Q) yet. S800 is a pre A15 architecture... so its a half step behind already, if samsung can get the Exynos 6 out it will be 1.5 generations ahead architecturally, and 1 version of the instruction set newer (huge improvements across the board), the people that understand this, will cook whatever device its in quickly, as the power would be similar to a workstation. which should be time for the pocket computer to diverge.. walk to your desk, and your monitor, mouse and keyboard all wake up.. connected to your phone as if it was a desktop.. these things are being viewed and engineered with such narrow vision, you can see them missing the boat which results with niche ideologies such as glass/gear.. |

I'd rather go with a SoC of a combination of Qualcomm's Krait CPU, Imagination Tech's PowerVR GPU and Samsung's memory. |

What are the chances that the Z1 successor will have 64 bit processor? and is it true that 64 bit can be fully utilized only with 4 GB of RAM or more? |

32 bit can't use more than 4GB (in reality, probably around 3.7) of RAM without ugly hack, but that doesn't mean 64-bit will utilizing RAM well. it really depends on programming style and requirement. otherwise, 64-bit will waste a huge portion of RAM |
