You can disable notification of the new SMS messages. Anyway since the P1i screen is blank in standby this notification will not help much, the led will do a better job.

Hey guys! I was finally able to update the firmware with the official GERMAN release.

Bad thing is I experience the same bugs as in the generic version. I'm kind of fed up with SE, it seems the P1i is just an experiment.

Moreover I was also able to reproduce the alarm bug, but I don't think it is the only bug. what about the transitions switching off automatically, the increased automatic reboots and all the other stuff mentined in this topic...

I hope Se will be releasing a firmware update that covers all thos silly bugs

Thanks, raduci

It's just that most of it is not connected to the core programs in some way. Is not reproducible, and/or disappears with a wipe of the memory card (lots of settings saved here, for all kinds of security levels, that's loaded on various points) and reflash of firmware. Then there is the backups - restoring 3rd party programs over a newer firmware typically causes problems. And again, because of the mounted and unmounted memory card with some of the settings - most problems such as that the phone sometimes will not boot, or generates an error after a backup, etc., appear to be because of some unspecific thing here that not everyone, or even most people, get.

The same with transitions disappearing - it's not traceable, because the people who has it cannot seem to figure out what actually caused it, what they did right before it happened, or what sort of programs they have installed that might've caused it. And, so, noone really can figure it out.

Nipsen you're welcome !
Another stupid behaviour of the SMS notification is that if you are in a call and you receive a SMS, you cannot end call/use the other options during call, until you answer the Yes or No to the SMS notification.

Mm. I agree. It would be a bit easier if it at least hid behind the telephone app. ..Maybe the UIQ dudes could make a custom layout manager for the confirmation dialogue. After all, we probably don't want other dialogues like this to drop behind the active window. So the fix might be to write a new message- notification that's not critical, like the standard confirmation dialogue is.

(..then we have another very good request for a new feature as well. To the wiki, raduci).

Yes, the notice is mute as well. So you don't know what happned until you take the phone out of standby mode.

I had this scenario:

1. Set an alarm for 7:30
2. Receive SMS at 6:30 (ignore)
3. At 7:30, no alarm; when you go to remove the screen from standby, you will see the window for the ignored SMS, when you dismiss that window, then the alarm will sound and its own window will appear.

I can't reproduce this, I hear both the alert and the alarm. Times were different of course, but I doubt that makes a difference

Phone:.... CXC162037 R9J005
Organizer: CXC162108 R6F41
CDA:...... CDA162024/92 R5A

However, I notice a little graphic "bug"; In standby, with keylock activated, there are no buttons on the bottom bar, but the bar graphic chosen is the one for depressed right button...
[EDIT] Ahem...a restart took care of that graphic "bug".

Intriguing. So are you using the "standard" tune for any of these alerts?

I used the "standard" alert for sms ("standard" being a sound included with a theme I made), and I tried Alarm Tone (or whatever it's called in English) and an mp3 for the alarm. All worked.

Damnit. I was so certain we had the first real bug! lol

You know what I did? I had changed the alarm in the alarm- panel to the same tune as the message- alert for some reason. And then I chose "standard alarm" on the alarm- settings afterwards - so, the same tune.

And the alert triggers fine here as well..

Only other thing I can think of that might stop the alarm from sounding is that some mono- tunes apparently won't play if you have the handsfree plugged in. (And a lot of ringtones come in mono, so..)

Hi, I'm currently in Hong Kong, and I'm thinking of buying a P1i here.. My question to you is if it is possible for me to to update the phone somehow so that I can use Swedish language settings, Swedish menus and Swedish T9 dictionary?
I havn't purchased the phone yet so if this is possible tell me what I should look for in the phone? A specific CDA? Phone Version? Bluetooth Version? Organizer Version? CDA Version?

I'm very new to these things so I would really appreciate if you could anwer me in an easy way and not use to many difficult terms

Thanks, really appreciate this forum!

On Hong Kong they probably only sell localized versions, probably even with chinese firmware.
You can later update the phone to other firmware, but I'm not sure how legal is that and if voids warranty.

Yeah.. it depends on the cda (custom data area). Anyone with a HK cda who could choose anything else than chinese on the first boot? Or who had everything from dutch to russian available as secondary language, like the other cdas? (As far as I understand it, HK and Singapore CDAs come with simplified or traditional chinese font support - but that's not available to the other areas as an add- on, so it could be there are more differences between the cdas than it seems.)

I have used chinese spec phones and they can always do English so see no reason why Swedish couldn't be installed...

I had the Singapore Trade version and it does not accept language files (at least for Italian)
Best way is to change it to WG1 unless you need Chinese characters

If I change to WG1, then can i change the language to Swedish?
