thus far, i haven't seen any other device that comes as close as the TYTN II in terms of features except the Glofiish X800, when it's minus the keyboard QWERTY, but it boasts a VGA screen and a better GPS Chip in SIRF III (not so sure how much better it comes compared to the one in TYTN II tough) and when TYTN II features a 128MB (nowadays, that's how much you need for daily usage  ), the X800 only up to 64MB

just for a thought, though the X800 boasts a VGA screen, it's actual size is just as big as TYTN II, which is 2.8", so i am afraid you can't really take a full advantage over the VGA resolution

I regret selling my JASJAM and to match up my regrets with your points:
- I never had any issues with RAM.
- The fastest network we have here in Oman is EDGE.
- The processor was more than adequate.
- WM6: HTML support in e-mail. What else? Glossy taskbar?
- HTC goodness? i-mate provided more goodness with the JASJAM.
New annoyances with TyTN II, issues I didn't have with the JASJAM:
1. Playing MP4 videos in PMP10; sound and video out of sync.
2. Occasional sluggishness (CPU not enough?).
3. Screen sometimes doesn't react to tapping if screen tapping sounds are enabled or if using other apps which gives sound feedback, like Bubble Breaker.
4. Poor quality Bluetooth audio for handsfree phone calls, similar to what you get with two tin cans and a string.
5. If you're right-handed and slide out the keyboard, then need to use the stylus, you have to perform some minor acrobatics to get it out from the left side. Be careful not to drop the phone!!!
6. A GPS device with a transmissive screen? HTC hopes that everyone will be using the GPS indoors? (JASJAM's screen was transflective.)
7. Night mode in the camera can not be switched on or off manually. The camera will decide when night mode is required, and this is the case even when strong fluorescent light is available, making it impossible to use the camera hand-held indoors.
8. The camera takes all photos in portrait mode. You have to hack the registry to make it switch to landscape mode.
Of the above points, I hope the first four could be solved if HTC would ever release ROM updates.
And HTC: WTF is "USB 2.0 Full Speed"??!?! You're trying to deceive customers? Full speed (12Mbps) is USB 1.1!!! USB 2.0 gives High Speed, which is 480Mbps, which of course the TyTN II doesn't support.
To add something positive about the TyTN II:
- Keyboard is much nicer. It gives more feeling of quality than the cheap Casio calculator-feel the JASJAM had.
- A2DP! Using my SE DS970 headset, sound quality is very good. Not with PMP10 though. I'm using PocketMusic which gives something similar to SE's MegaBass.
- I love the case! Mocha leather and that ultra-soft velcro flap gives an almost naughty feeling to it 
- The 3MP camera is very good, although the 2MP in the JASJAM was also very good (with the right settings) and the increase in megapixels doesn't give the corresponding increase in photo quality. TyTN II photos are just a little better.
I could perhaps recommend the TyTN II to new users. But I would definitely not recommend upgrading from TyTN (JASJAM). Better buy a Bluetooth GPS, if this functionality is what you miss on the TyTN. If you need faster than 1.8 Mbps HSDPA, then choose another phone. Maybe the E90?

GSMArena.com just posted a review of the TyTN II. Looks like they're wrong about the screen. I bet they never took their review unit out to use in direct sunlight!

i had my E90 for some time before letting it go, too bad it doesn't feature a touch screen and above all, i need a WM than a Symbian. just my opinion. i thought the HSDPA on TYTN II supports the 3.5MBps? as well as the E90?
the gps on E90 is barely useable, in fact, i haven't used it at all, the chip ain't catching signal well, thats why, whereas TYTN II performs just fine for my GPS need. |

Abubasim, fair enough, I never had the Jasjam so if you preferred that I can't argue with you... but I would say that I'm glad I waited for the Tytn II. It just feels like the ultimate WM device to me.
Of course you can quibble with some aspects of its performance right now - but it's still on first release firmware. I think there are some processor optimisations that they haven't made yet, and I'm quite sure it will get a lot faster in subsequent releases. I can't comment on HTC's past performance, but I'm quite satisfied that this phone right now is many times more polished and reliable than any of SE's smartphones upon initial release, and that's good enough for me right now. |

HTC keiser should have been released months before, or was the last quarter of last year, and delayed till march as scheduled. but due to unexplainable reasons, it finally arrived just a couple of months ago, so that explains why, even though in the first initial release, i could say that keiser has been performing on where it should be, it could only get better and better with the ROM upgrade, if not some cooked ROMs
i myself, been using a cooked rom not long since i got my keiser last month and have been happy to live with |

Im being forced into moving to vodafone (my new house doesnt have reception with any other operator - though i still need to check o2), what is the voda branded tytn II like? Is it much different to the standard version?

It's pretty similar, Vodafone have customised the dialling screen and added a splash screen etc on bootup, and removed a couple of apps (Worldcard mobile, and Windows Live Messenger), but it's all fairly bearable...
The good news is that, if like me you're a stickler for having phones as the manufacturer intended, there's already software on the XDA Developer forums which allows you to remove the vendor's lock on firmware, and then re-flash it with the original HTC roms, giving you a completely debranded phone with all the original apps present and correct.

Cool nice, cheers for that. I assume you'll need a pc to flash the phone (rather than a mac)?
Can you still install msn messenger or is it blocked on the voda firmware? Also i assume you can still connect to wlan to browse the internet? Id heard that voda blocked this so you'd have to used their data service instead, any truth to this?

AFAIK you need a PC, yep - I've not seen Mac versions of the software, but then again I wasn't looking for them! But it is Windows mobile, so the community of hackers working on these things tend to be fairly Windows-centric.
I hadn't tried installing Messenger before I debranded, so not sure about that, but I can't see why it wouldn't work - I installed some other apps without any problem. As far as I could tell, the Voda firmware wasn't crippled in anyway, and yes - Wifi works just fine whatever firmware you're on, no truth to that rumour

just make sure you know how to flash it back to the original ROM should you need to return it back to voda for warranty purposes, else your warranty is void
all you have to do is to read and understand the steps to flash your ROM, a flaw may brick your TYTN II though

hi guys,
ok so now i got my 6GB sandisk. what i'd like to know is that, do i simply copy and paste all the files and applications installed on my old 2GB to 6GB and go on with life? or any other saver way to do it?

Just been reading over @All About Symbian Steve Litchfield has done a podcast comparison of the TYTN 11 and the E90 and although the result is quite close the E90 come out the winner but he does have some fairly hard criticism's of the TYTN11. I haven't watched it yet but will do soon apparently from the comments in the thread the TYTN screen takes a bit of a bashing. Please no one jump to any conclusions i am not bashing the TYTYN 11, i nearly bought one but got a better deal on the E90 and now a days i prefer non touchscreen devices and the larger keyboard and screen. Not saying there is anything wrong with the TYTN just not the right choice for me is all.

In the latest firmware release for the E90 A-GPS is added so it now gets faster locks, i am still waiting for 02 to deliver my E90 now expected around the 15th but don't intend using the internal GPS anyway A-GPS or not IMO inbuilt GPS is not the best solution not by a long way IMO.
