one thing im thinking about is that nations like USA, Germany & Sweden makes products with absolutely best quality. (if i may say so)
i mean stuff like cars, computers, HIFI, HI-Tech and of course cell phones, BUT its one "thing" Germany & USA cant "fix", and thats of course cell phones.
have USA some good cell phone brand ?
(England also makes things with really high quality, maybe not biggest on computers/cell phones, but other things, like their cars, Aston Martins)

Time for the mods to come close this thread. It has become stupid. Note enclosed post as proof.

That's quite enough of that. Besides being (mostly) false, what does that have to do with the topic of the thread?

good point. As you all know, I don't support the thrust of the argument in this thread, but the last few posts where people have criticised this or that nation's manufacturing ability is just plain rude and unnecessary.
The US is still one of the strongest manufacturing powerhouses in the world, even given the massive offload of production to countries like china, japan, korea etc.
In terms of build quality (though not necessarily features) Motorola are better by a small margin than SE. I'm an SE loyalist and even I accept that. That doesn't mean SE are crap btw They are still well built in my opinion.

ok, what i mean is like this. (off topic).
my family has a -68 Ford mustang, (have a lot of friends who have old US/(swedish/germany) cars as well).
for example, try to start a Nissan, Mazda, etc, etc, who is 40 years old when its -20 C coold outside (it want start if it warm either, he he), you never have to think about if the Mustang (40 years old) gone start or not, just turn the dame key and brroommn its start. (try to do that on an 40 years old Mazda, he he) THATS QUALITY my friends. also we have example toys who is +50 years (for my daughter) from Germany/sweden, they looks/works perfect, THATS quality.
do you guys know how ex, Kawazaki, Nicon, Mazda, Canon, etc, etc, etc made theirs products ? (i know). on ~ 1950 Japanes companys bought one Hasselblad camera, one Leica, etc, etc, etc, (and yes, Hasselblad is still the best camera in the world). then they pick down this cameras into the smallest parts, and then just serie manufacture all small parts in millions pieces, then they put it together. and voila there you hade your Nicon, kawazaki, suzuki, etc, etc. Mazda, etc..
or do you guys think they came upp with the ideas by them self ?

I disagree and agree with you on a few things in this thread Max. SE could be making better and innovative phones rather than recycling what they currently have and using outdated technology, i.e. 802.11B. This alone tells me that they are not really trying. The 802.11G standard is over two years old, but SE chose to stick to something outdated. Anyway, in the area of innovation and technology advancement, Nokia is moving forward with SE marking time. Clearly the Nokia high-end phones and even their middle market phones are equal to if not better than the current (I say current for a reason) SE crop out there. After SE decided that they would not support Macintosh (my preferred computing platform) but Nokia embraced it, this sealed the deal for me that SE is not interested in moving forward but content with the status quo. Right now, almost all Nokia phones are supported on the Mac platform which some SE with all the work being done but third parties rather than SE (When I contacted them to ask about support, they said that I should contact Apple, but I said they make computers and not phones, SE still said it was Apples job to support their phones. How stupid is this?) engineers. SE once again shows that they are not a leader but a follower and also ran.
I am not an phone manufacture loyalist, but a loyalist to technology that works for me with the least amount of hassle and efficiently. Nokia fits this bill to a T with SE no where to be found.

its transfer speeds. G is 54MBPS and B is 12MBPS. Please correct me if wrong.
BTW i am talking about WiFi. 802.11 is WiFi. AKA Wireless LAN

I am a loyalist to SE for their graphical interface and ergonomics, which I prefer over other phones by a long shot. This is a personal preference so I don't care what other people like, but for me SE ergonomics philosophy is the best. This started with Ericsson, and SE have maintained the philosophy in keeping with Ericsson's vision of ergonomics.
So for me, when I pick up an SE phone I find it more convenient to use. This is not just because I am used to it. I am a loyalist, not an idiot. I have used many other phones, including an N70 and xda mini which I currently use regularly, but extended use of other phones leaves me wishing they had the SE UI.
The second aspect of my loyalty to SE is their design philosophy - I genuinely find their handsets more attractive overall than other handsets. This is never a primary factor for me, but when all other things are equal I will choose a phone that is better looking.
Because SE DO make good phones, and they have what I need (primarily the best camera available) and the interface I prefer, and are competent if not always leading edge, so I remain an SE loyalist. I do so not out of some blind fanboyistic tendenies but for the reasons stated above.
I take you points about MAC suport. I have heard that SE are planning to reverse this narrow minded approach, but can't find confirmation. For something like music sync, I see Apple as being the fault - if itunes had the ability to sync with generic mp3players via a mounted removable drive, then syncing could be done to SE phones as easily as (easier in fact) Disc2Phone on a PC. On the issue of phone pda info syncing, the fact is SE's PC software is shite and not worth using, so effectively SE don't really support Mac OR PC. I use third party applications to manage my SE phones (I use PC's mostly)

I never use disc2phone because it only supports up to 192kbps mp3 conversing . I use iTune which can support up to 320 kbps mp3 conversing. |

Hi all,
Well i have to agree with sapporobabay on his quote of
"I am not an phone manufacture loyalist, but a loyalist to technology that works for me with the least amount of hassle and efficiently. Nokia fits this bill to a T with SE no where to be found."
As this is exactly my view point currently and i really do hope that SE can once again produce a product i desire and want to own. But currently they just don't and that really isn't my fault and don't see how or why i should be expected to wait for as yet not even announced devices that may or may not even exist.
Max as i have said many times before the majority of all my products have been Ericsson and then SE because simply they were the Best they may not of been the best looking devices but there quality was beyond question it was a given.
Since last Year my opinion on this has changed radically i desired and even waited for the 2nd Firmware release of the M600 as i really though it had everything i wanted. To say i was disappointed would be a massive understatement, i couldn't even work out how anyone at SE could of given the go ahead for these UIQ3 product's to even be realeased it was IMO an outrageous act of betrayal and a complete mickey take. I bought a piece of garbage that was met by a wall of silence from SE and firmware updates that where taking 2 months for the next release. They may well be a lot better now and may still get even better but if you think it's right to struggle with a device for nearly a year and still not quite be there that is your choice but certainly not mine.
I don't want GPS in my device as i am more than happy using a standalone receiver and running Tom Tom on my device. I do however expect to have a device that uses a current fast processor and full graphics chip after all it's nearly half way through 2007. I also expect if it is a Data centric device to have HSDPA as that just makes sense to unleash it's full potential. I also don't see why it shouldn't have WiFi g support as this leads to better compatibility with more wireless Networks why use old tech and risk problems it just makes no sense to me. I also of course want great speed and stability in the OS and the ability to customise it as i need and have a range of apps available with of course more Ram to go with with the power.
Unfortuantly at this point in time SE just has nothing to offer me realeased or even announced and that is just the sad facts. If and when SE have something for me consider i will do but currently they just don't so i really have no option but to look elsewhere for what i want and need.
All this constant bickering really gets us now where and proves nothing the simple fact is currently SE are not producing cutting edge tech devices why not i neither know or care any longer but until they do i can't buy any it really is that simple. So for now i just have to wait a little while longer for the E90 to be realeased and then I'll be happy until the next best thing arrives.
Marc
