Guys, please help me keep the list updated in regards to the HW revision and etc for the phones that have the BT problem..

I need the following (please e-mail to gdaswani@pocketbuddy.com)

1) Was your phone a real Sony Ericsson Phone, or a branded one like Cingular, AT&T?

2) T68i? or T68m?

3) What is the hardware revision of your phone?

4) What was your Original Firmware Revision before the Update?

5) Where did you get the new firmware file?

6) Do you know if the firmware you flashed it to is an AT&T R5C001, the T68ie R5D007, or the T68i R5D007 EU?

7) Is your BT Discovered Mode still operational?

I posted up the list that I got from people

http://www.pocketbuddy.com/gdaswani/BT-Failures.html

Let me know if any of the info needs to be updated.

From what it looks so FAR, if you have an R5A, or an R6B phone - USE the AT&T R5C001. If you have an R6A, then it seems that it's safe to use the T68i R5D007 EU Firmware.

Note, Flashing is dangerous and you can easily damage your phone, break the BT functionality of your phone, and have battery standby problems. Use at your own risk!

G

No, funks, they have not answered me yet...I also sent email to the Vegas guy, Adam...waiting for him as well...thanks for the hint on te firmware file..I might just give that a try...still very worried about the bt problem since I rely heavily on bt for everything, I don't want to loose that function. I did my other phone for my girlfriend and it worked fine but have not used the bt with anything other than a headset..it was a t68m and upgraded it to R5D software. My t68i is R3D and hardware is R6A...anything?

Hmmm, SevenFire states that he flashed his R6A T68x's to the R5D007 EU and IE and they both work fine..

This flashing is a hit or a miss thing in regards to bluetooth. But if you are gonna go through with the RISK, stick with the T68i R5D007 EU from SevenFire's website (per historical reports).

funks,

I might be way off on this one, but when a firmware is upgraded on a phone with EMMA2 as opposed to the ericsclient.exe, it doesn't save all memory settings from the serviced phone. Therefore, only the operating system portion of the firmware is upgraded.

Now, if you use the ericsclient.exe to upgrade your firmware to R5D007, it may just be that the file dump was produced from a phone with hardware revision R6A and may not work correctly with any other phone with different hardware revision. I have done numerous flashes to T68i phones with this hardware revision (R6A), and BT has been functioning just fine. I also have upgraded two T68i phones with hardware revision R6B only to find that BT does not work when connecting to my computer or PDA. Both hardware revisions were from AT&T provisioned phones.

Any comments on this? As far as usernames/passwords are concerned for remote log client access, you can email me and I will pricematch both Adam, and unlocKing. You can reach me or any of our staff online via email or MSN Messenger at: gsm@virtualdynamix.com.

Guys dont post sites like this making out its so easy to flash the cellphone yourself, as you may found it easy but, somebody unlike your self , not experienced will try it, very often resulting in failure.

Ninjaturtle has just completly messed up his phone, attempting this.

Hi all, I finally worked out my service cable issues so I'm going to flash my t68m either this afternoon or tonight after work. Anyway it is a t68m with R4C hardware and R2B013 firmware, I'm planning on flashing R5D007 off of SevenFire's site. I only have one question, who has the most reliable server and the best service by which to buy logs from? Oh and the best price would be great too, thanks.

mrj82,

i hope all works out fine, as i am planning on doing the same as soon as i receive my service cable. i am also using a t68m with R4C hardware and R2B013 firmware and hope to upgrade to the R5D007 from Sevenfire. a friend of mines had did the upgrade (same phone specs as ours) and has no bluetooth loss, and minor standby and talk time loss. i think it's an even trade to have the upgrade though. let me know how it works out for you.

Swazi...it is understood that an undertaking like flashing and upgrading should be left to experts or factory authorized techs, however, having said that, I believe that many who have flashed their phones successfully have also made disclaimers to the effect of risks involved in doing so all over this thread. I feel so bad for your friend who "fried" his phone, but it is not completely hopeless..he may still have a way of bringing his phone back to life. Ask him to check on the sevenfire site and on the same page that lists the firmware available for download, there is also downloads and instructions for dead phones. Please, Please ask him to make sure that he has the directions understood and procedures down before doing anything of that magnitude to the phones...and good luck!!!

virtualdynamix...you may have something there my friend because I've been looking keenly into this bluetooth (bt) and battery problem with flashed phones. As in most cases with electronics (hardware and software), the firmware is always written in support of associated hardware. Such is the case with a hardware R6A phone and its associated firmware, perhaps R5C and R5D...we may need someone like funks to focus his data collection now on exact hardware revisions and its "original" firmware revision. That is, what did these phones come with "before" the flashing...then we can pair them up and perhaps find that there may be only 1 or 2 revisions per hardware version before a new hardware revision and associated firmware version is released. In fact, I firmly believe that this is the case. Therefore, we on this site and in this forum, who try to spread the info to others to help will have a more definitive concept in which to do so. I think what we'll end up with is a "list" of phones and their upgradeable firmware versions that will work only for that particular hardware revision. Other than that, someone who flashes their phone with firmware not applicable will do so at their own risk.

Well, sorry for such a long post, but I think, based upon the number of replies to this thread alone regarding failing bt or battery problems warrants it.

Let me know what you guys think.

I believe I have all the necessary information, and hardware in order to flash my phone.

T68m R1b s/w r1b h/w week 49 2001

I would like to flash to R5d or R5c

I am aware of the BT and Standby problems that may arise as a result of this, and having read this thread thoroughly over a few times am quite suprised at the level of technical expertise that you guys have with regards to the T68 phone.

I think I will wait a bit longer to see if the problems can be properly diagnosed before actually flashing, however in the interim I was wondering if somebody could answer a question that I have.

I have been "fiddling" (for want of a better word) with ericsclient and my flashing cable (T28) and have noticed that I always receive a message saying "power on phone" in the ericsclient status bar. Is this normal for someone who does not have a log yet? or should I be looking at the possiblity that my cable is faulty?

I hope you can asnwer this question for me as I woud like to be properly prepared before making the actual flash attempt.

Kind Regards

Onslo

Its normal, when you do power up the phone it accually doesn't seem as if it is, thats where the software takes over, but since you have no username/password it won't go any further. Right now I got my phone charging while I search for a good site to buy logs from so once again I ask to the people who have already flashed which server seems the most reliable?

Hello Virtual,

Yes, I believe what you stated is so.. If the source phone is an R6B (then it should be safe to use it on R6B hardware).

The question that bugs me is the fact that downgrading the firmware to the original version works but doesn't restore BT capability...

I'm not sure what hardware revisions the R5D007 (ie, and i) were ripped from.

I've updated my site along with the tables to note down the hardware version source of the firmwares. Does anybody know what hardware revision the

R5D007 EU and R5D007 ie firmwares were ripped from?

Virtual, are you using the same server as Unlocking or LogosUnlimited?

George
