AppleWorks, which I think still comes free with consumer Macs, can open (and possible save) Word files.

ooo jools I got a question, I got my new macbook pro yesterday and only really started playing on it properly today as last night I was reinstalling the os (get rid of the things I didnt want such as 1gb of extra languages) anyway on me dads macbook he can use 2 fingers to tap on his trackpad and it right clicks, but on my one I can't find the option, I upgrade all the firmwares and software, but cannot see the option. Im just wondering if I can actually get this function on my mbp as its quite cool?
Cheers

ignore that request jools, after allot more searching me and my ad found a program that does it.
**********NOTE TO ALL MACBOOK PRO 15" USES**************
If you want to enable your trackpad to right click using 2 fingers follow the link below for a download patch which allows it (its like when you scroll using two fingers, but you just tap for the right click) Download then install it and it enables a extra setting on your trackpad like:

Can anybody recommend me some good dvd r/rw i am using an intel macbook pro and decided to back up some of my csi dvd's so i used mactheripper which was fine and then dragged the video-ts file into toast.
It compressed it fine as the full extraction was 7.7gb then when it came to write the disc i got an error halfway through something about sense drive, hardware failure. I have looked it up and it seems to be the type of media you use (i used philips dvd+rw)
Also it took nearly and hour for toast to compress the file and then stated another 15 minutes to write, is this normal? If not should i use another program to compress it and then just use toast to burn if so which program?
I am going to go to staples later so if anybody can recommend a brand that would be great. Thanks.

Anyone at all? I keep getting errors all the time i have used dvd2oneX to compress the video-ts file to save toast doing it and then tried using toast to burn but i am still getting error messages.
I have tried both philips dvd+r and dvd+rw and philips dvd-rw and the same thing happens on both i have used this media before and had no problem but not for burning video-ts file, am i using the wrong type of something this is so annoying.
Was thinking of trying the apple dvd-r media but it is rather expensive, has anyone used it before the reviews on the apple website seem good but it is around £2 for each dvd-r.

We have used the Apple media in the past and not had any problems, but as you say its expensive.
Currently we're using Intenso DVD-R's and have no failures yet.

You might want to check on the Apple site to see if there's a SuperDrive firmware update applicible to your drive. They often increase compatibility with media.

Cheers Jools have not spotted anything on the apple site and nothing is mentioned when i run update software from my macbook, will keep my eye out though. I am tempted just to pay out and get the apple media as i know i would have no problems with it just very pricey, thanks for the link will check that out now.
