I agree. They managed to design a Z7 with a colour screen (but never released it), why didnt they make a clour screen version of the T39m. That would have been a great phone.

Is there any flip phone available nowadays (not counting the p910/800, as they are smartphones) ? It seems the fashion trends are clamshells or sliding phones since the last years...

There arent any that I can think of. It was only really Ericsson that did them. Motorola dis with the 7500 and 8500 but that was about 10 years ago.

@bart and others who have used the DBA 10, how is it? can it be used as a modem?
@JC nice collection.... how does thew r190 work? it connects directly to satellite? does it need a special service provider or any normal sim with any service provider would do? does this mean we can have range in place that normally has no range at all?

the r190 connects to a satellite using the Aces satellitr system in asia or through normal gsm system. i havent been able to use the satellite part as i dont have the satellite aerial for it and it only works in asia but i am in europe.

Whats the difference between r190 and r290? Tried only the 290 once, do like its design and the aerial.

acces to the satellite system.
in a time before roaming and global gsm networks. there where people in need of a way to comunicate. satellite phones were the answer.
a satelite phone connects to the satellite the same way as it would connect to your local gsm network. speed is slower cause a the satellite is not really that close to you. the satellite is connected to a satellite dish which is connected to a network on the ground.
news reporters still prefere satelite connection over phone connection.
there are down sides. the phone uses alot of power, when the sky isn't clear you could lose connection or don't have any at all.
a + side was that you could comunicated where ever you are.
i myself am looking for an R290, i know its a very expencive phone. but one of the providers here could let me use it on satellite roaming to see how things go.
