Hi all,
Well as this idea that Sony is unhappy with Ericsson which IMO is a laugh to start with keeps on rearing it's ugly head. I'll state what i think is my already my well known position personally i can't wait for Sony to retreat back to Japan and leave Ericsson alone once more to do what it does best make great and innovative handsets.
Sony can take there cheap and nasty branding and marketing and shove it where the sun doesn't shine. Let Ericsson get back to making far fewer but top quality products and rebuild it's once loyal and faithful user base that stuck with Ericsson because of what they delivered not based on what they looked like.
Oh please let this be true this time and let it be farewell Sony.
Just in case some have missed it i don't hate ERICSSON i do hate SONY.
Marc

SE's own website is now saying January.

All the release dates seem valid depending on where you live
X1a - January '09 for official U.S. AT&T release.
X1i - Oct 6-12 for U.K.
Somewhere in between for everywhere else |

Old news, that article published today? Okay, so how about this one - http://www.engadget.com/2008/[....]x1-delayed-to-end-of-the-year/ - published today again, and with confirmation from a Sony rep (today) that it's delayed... was that mentioned 10 pages ago too?
"a Sony rep confirmed to us that it's looking like December 2008 or January 2009. To blame is the software, specifically Windows Mobile 6.1 (or perhaps SE's implementation of it), which appeared to be actively destroying the display units Sony has on display at IFA -- of the three devices, one had some green status lights, one didn't work at all, and one turned on briefly, only to crash hard and never return again... a pretty poor showing for day one of the show. "
Ouch. How long has the Touch Pro been out now?

If this is real, is it Microsofts fault or HTC's ? |

6.1 runs just fine on my year old HTC Tytn II, let alone the Touch Pro, Diamond, or any of the many other 6.1 products on the market today from HTC and elsewhere. Isn't it just possible that this is SE's fault?
It's funny, usually people around here are quick to push how much of an SE product this phone is, but as soon as something goes wrong it must be down to HTC or Microsoft..
There's more here btw - with confirmation again that while it might just get to Germany before Christmas, it'll be January (at least) before anyone else sees it - http://www.reghardware.co.uk/[....]/xperia_setback_windows_blame/
Bizarrely the Reg journo mentions "6.2", but since the SE rep themselves mentions 6.1 it's safe to assume this is a mistake I guess.

...And when things seem great, it's labeled an HTC device and SE has no part in producing it Who's right ?
The pics on the engadget link you just posted show a weak battery though .....that would explain the screen going blank |

But not the rep's comments to either Engadget or The Register
Besides, it's a bit hard to believe that all three of the devices on show had flat batteries, especially when at least one of those pictured had a charger plugged in...

Yes, 6th - 12th October seems to be correct.
I've noticed that on the Play.com website, the price has dropped from £599 to £499 for Sim Free. The release date has also changed from 30th October to 10th October.
Fingers crossed! |

It's also hard to believe, at this point, all of a sudden, the X1 doesn't work.
Whatever the problem, is or was, I'm sure is minor and will be fixed. |
