I think there is currently a gaping hole in Sony Ericsson's portfolio...
Ie. no high end Candybar form phones.
Why is there not a K850/C902 successor?
I refuse to get a slider phone.
Someone must have news of something due to come out? |

I don't know what SE is playing at with the release of the C901. It could have been a C902 and K850i successor in one, but they decided to give it very limited market availability which is extremely odd in theses economic times.
But what I think SE is doing (also due to the bad economy) is giving their phones longer market lives. For example the C902 (which appears to have sold very well) should have had a successor by now if we look at SE's recent phone update history, but it hasn't. I believe this is because of SE's poor recent performance and because they are struggling to make profit. Obviously if you are struggling with money, you're not going to pour a lot of it into development if you don't have to. The C902 still sells, so therefore why update?

That sounds like it could be true
But I don't get why they don't release the C901 in other markets, too. I think it could be popular enough and it'll be a pretty decent successor to C902, without making that much extra costs. It's already developped, so the only thing they have to do is do some advertising and marketing and they could have a hit. |

I would definitely go for the C901 if it were available in the UK.

I may have to get one anyway... ...+1 to the point about high-end candybars!
Funny how a 7-series slider can have WLAN also(a premium feature in dumbphones), yet not a bar device, such as C901, or even W902??
And to think SE were known as masters of the candybar, at one point......

well yep thats it. SE masters of the candybar moved away from it now and are slowly becoming SE masters of the slider. I am still waiting though till they become masters of the clamshell. |

(i.e- wm6.5 releaing on May 11), I think the next EU phone which is to be announced on may 28 could be win mobile 6.5.

Well here's hoping that the C901 will get a wider release
or that there is something else up the SE sleeve...?
Maybe a nice new Candybar in the C series... 8mp, wifi etc.
Add that to my wishlist! |

Question. How limited is it? I mean if it can come to Greece it can surely go to other countries like the UK no? |

Look this official link... There are just few countries listed. I hope that C901 will be available in more countries, and in more language packs. I really want this phone because it would be a perfect choice after my K850.
I just hope -on the base of the following photos- that C901 will be available in more countries, and these additional languages (french, croatian, finnish) compared to the countries' listed on SonyEricsson's site aren't just the prototypes' features. However the hungarian language pack interests me (because of the T9).

What the hell. The Greek Language is there but its not in the list. Again what the hell. I did not see that previously cause the list had a glitch and it was not popping up so I thought it would come to Greece. Great. I still think though while it might not be on the list Greece would get it. The only SE we never had is that T-Mobile rebrand of the Z770. |
