Well you use SEUS then. The language is just for the updater so I am quite suprised to find that you have difference experience. The only explanation would be it connect to different server (mirror) that is closest to German speaking language and download from there. The older server must have corrupt firmware for your CDA-string firmware.

Please prove some of your statements and back them up with FACTS. Where do you get this from? Do you know this for sure or are you just speculating.

Here in italy the new firmware is not yet available via SEUS.
How many time does it usually take to localize firmware and release it worldwide? |

Read again all the paragraph and you will know that I NEVER stated that this is a fact! It is my understanding (read somewhere on the net) that the language is just for interface and then SEUS will automatically choose the right firmware (like you may choose traditional chinese for SEUS dialog - only Taiwan and HGK still uses this - but if your mobile is APAC - which consist only easy chinese - then SEUS still updates it with APAC firmware. So that should conclude that the language you choose for SEUS dialog is not tied to the CDA/language of firmware. However the poster said that he chose German language for SEUS dialog and it make a difference (meaning the firmware he download with US English MIGHT not be the same with German). So I SPECULATE SE may deploys several servers around the world so that for example choosing German/English UK language will download firmware from Europe's server while American English will download firmware from US's server.
If I WERE SE then I might deploys several mirror based on the geography that will make ppl connect to nearest server. This may prove difficult since Spanish and Portuguese languange exist in both Europe and South America which is further apart. Also SE need to sync a lot of firmware for all its mirror server around the world. Again this is just my speculation. |

I'm with you, hanugro.
IMHO, mirror servers do exist. Once I got my SEUS kept on looping until I changed Indonesian to USA, which was a success.

Being with Hanugro does not make you correct, but can make you as equally incorrect. The problem with this forum is that very few do real research and post fiction as fact.
The fact about SE as I got it from the local SE SVC CTR is that the SEUS does look at the region where the phone is localized for, i.e. Germany or Kuwait, or China and offers a language pack for that particular region. Mirrors do exist but only facilitates a faster download of the local language pack to an area closer to where you are. If you care to test this, buy a phone outside of your region and see what language pack is chose. I have a phone from Kuwait, and when I tried to upgrade it, I got a language pack for the region where it was purchased: ASIA.
My Finnish phone is localized for European languages. This is also true of the repair options. Buy a phone in the US and try to get it repaired in Europe and they won't do it. The same applies to the application of language packs and phone upgrades.

I called SE here in the United States and they gave me 2 options:
1.) Send them the phone and pay $135 for them to "fix" it, and by fixing it he said "doing the same thing you can do online, only in more detail"
2.) Try updating the software online again
I opted for the 2nd choice and when I did it the 2nd time around I updated it in German, and not in English (like I had done the 1st time)...I don't know why, but now everything works fine!!!
ONE HUNDRED THIRTY FIVE DOLLARS to "fix" my phone??? SE is crazy!!!

Thank you very much. I did it with different "language" too and IT DOES HELP
And software is deffinitely different - before I used UK language and Camera software was 2.4, the second time I used Slovak language and Camera software is 2.5 and backlight works perfectly.
Thanks again |

Now read again carefully. Isn't you just confirming what I said. The language choice in SEUS is NOT TIED to firmware CDA that you downloaded. You CAN'T change your APAC customization to EURO customization by simply choosing Germany in SEUS. I ALWAYS use US English to upgrade my APAC (Asean region) phone and SEUS always install APAC firmware for me automatically.
What I SPECULATE is when you choose Germany instead of one of APAC country (like Indonesia) in SEUS that may actually cause SEUS to download your APAC firmware from Europe FTP site instead of APAC firmware from Asean FTP site. The file you download should be identical still APAC but there is a chance one of them is corrupt (like the first poster MIGHT experience), isn't it?
EDIT: To think again it is even better for SEUS to check the IP address so that it can direct to nearest Mirror server. But it will not explain why the OP make it work by choosing Germany instead of US English. Aremaboy also said US English work and Indonesia don't so it must go to different server (If SEUS check for IP address it will direct you to nearest server (same one) over and over again regardless your choice of language). - If this confuse you more then just don't discuss it and skip to paragraph below.
Now can we close this topic as it is very clear we are talking about same thing. This is not about K800 firmware in specific and it should be in separate thread alltogether.

At least he has something intelligent to offer. What can you provide other than your mom's phone number and a good time?
Every post you make proves how little you know about anything.

Guys can we put this to rest. Pls keep on the topics (K800 firmware).
What we learn about this is ppl can at least try using different language interface in SEUS if something is wrong after SEUS flashing. It might take you to other mirror server that have firmware which is not corrupt.
Also it is not just the firmware that reside on the server that can corrupt. The transmission/download also may cause corrupt file (it just took 1 false bit to make your mobile does not work as it should) even though the original file is OK. Who knows there is surge spike along the transmission line.
Mind you that you will still get firmware according to your mobile CDA string! |
