According to GSMarena, Froyo has been delayed, according to a Facebook mention, still its better to know its coming rather than X10 owners who know already they arent getting it.

Yes, been put back to the end of october now. To be honest, I've got 2.1 JM2, with lag fix, gps fix and the phone's been rooted, and it runs a dream. Still very happy with it!

my Galaxy, latest firmware with lag fix, runs like a snail! Almost....
Its happening more and more each day. The amount of times I select something, or select an app to open and get no response for a few seconds or a black screen (with status bar showing) is really starting to annoy me. I can understand it happening with large apps, but it does it frequently with the 'Phone'/'Messaging' apps, 2 of which SHOULD operate quickest.
I know Samsung are at least giving us 2.2, but their software support still sucks imho! It has had, what, one update since release? Which done almost nothing, perhaps even make it run worse than it did on the release firmware... SE, although very slow on new Android versions, at least they give other updates that improve usability, its had 3 or so updates so far since release. All made noticeable improvements. And its not as if the x10 was useless upon release.
Am I the only one who still doesn't like Samsungs software support?

erm, im well aware it runs Android Android or not, its still Samsung who does all the software tweaks! It is a Samsung phone..... Remember?
Im not talking bout the Froyo update. Im talking about Samsung providing some performance improvements, with minor updates filling the gap until 2.2 gets here. The one update they have provided so far, did not offer that imho!
The problem is stemming from Samsungs end, the file system used is crap! Simple as that!

Samsung have alot to do with the software as they have to implement Touchwiz on top of the stock Android UI meaning they have to do many tweaks to Android, what >500 is having problems with though seems to be related to the hardware, as Android apps are installed to the internal c: drive, now apparently Samsung made a big mistake and put a slow c: memory chip in the Galaxy-S which causes slowdowns when launching apps as they all sit in that c: memory, so its basically causing a "bottle-neck" in the system.
He's not bashing at all, hopefuly 2.2 will fix this as it allows Apps2SD.

Over the years alot of Samsung mobiles seem to have the same memory card issues whereby everything from downloads to camera saving etc is defaulted to phone memory & it's very annoying When I had the Galaxy & Jet after manually putting everything to default saving in memory card it goes back to the phone memory after unplugging from pc

Very pleased with mine.... installed froyo (jpk rom). Rooted, and lag fix applied, and it is flying along! Very happy with it's performance, and the jpk rom (which although beta, is rumoured to be the final release).

Isnt that because the basic Android GUI is pretty ugly ? I always thought so when the G1 came out.
