Ok guys...so I have been holding out on this upgrade and I think I may try but I want some help. Can someone with good experience with this new firmware do a comprehensive improvement list and remaining/new bugs list so those considering can have a one stop source to be in the know?

I just noticed a problem with pictures as e-mail attachments, which I hadn't (noticed) before the update.

When sending a picture taken with the built-in camera, it arrives as text output instead of a picture!

Anybody noticed this as well? Is there a solution?

Thanks!

Weird! I've no idea how you ended up with GW3!!!!

AFAIK, there is no difference in the actual software that gets loaded on to the phone with GW1/2/3, and that they are all updated simultainiously.

My best guess is that they use the different CDAs for statistical marketing information, in that they release different world CDAs in different parts of the world and log when they're updated, to provide a picture of the kind of people who buy their products, and where they are from. I suppose they could also tell from this how far their phones migrate around the world, and hence the kind of people who are using them.

Of course now that users can change their CDAs at will, this information is rendered faily useless, unless of course they also log the IMEI at the point of update.......in which case they know even MORE about you.....

So do I need to re-flashed my phone to GW1? Or I will bring it back to my regional setting which is Hongkong. So far as I'm using my phone right now, it's working well. Can I keep this setting in my phone? And also, can you please write down the improvements and other change with the phone since the last firmware. Thanks.

Hi,
I havn't had much time to update my P1i but, after reading some of the posts, am seriously thinking of doing it.
But before that, do I backup the contents before changin CDA or after? (am on O2, and even though they have released an update, I fancy trying out GW1)
Secondly, does the update resolve the Wifi WPA issue?

Thanks everyone

Edit: Sorted. I wasn't sure whether changing the CDA might affect the backup.
Loving the bigger on-screen keyboard. Somebody mentioned the phone sounds louder-havn't used the music player yet but will definitely be a welcome addition.

Now looking into flashing it with a W960 FW.

Check the topic title...

R9H004 < R9K009
R6E30 < R6G04

It's the latest for your CDA though.

If you're software version is the same as the title of this thread, then you have the very latest firmware release on your phone, so no need to do anything.... Putting any of the GW versions on your phone doesn't localise it at all AFAIK, I was merely musing on a posible reason as to why there are 3 of them - appologies for any confusion!!

@JAGUY85/technokid17
there is a running list of issues here:
http://uiq3.sourceforge.net/w[....]hones/P1i#R6G04_reference_list

the list is referenced by organiser version, hence it takes a bit of finding on the wiki site....click on the bugs' numbers to get detailed descriptions.

Cross reference to the previous versions' lists to see the fixes in this one.

Oh I see. So there's no worries for me changing my CDA to GW2. Thanks for the info. Just another thing, in my opera problem, just like the previous version and I thought it will be fixed with the latest, when I'm trying to watch videos using youtube, either youtube.com or m.youtube.com, I always got the message in the media viewer saying, "The link appears not to be valid, do you want to try again?" I'm using wireless lan. How can I fix this problem? I tried using opera mini 4 but it says flash is not properly installed.

I guess this is because the media player on the P1 will only stream realmedia compatible files, and not the .flv format that youtube uses.

There may be a 3rd party option, but as I don't use my phone for this I've not researched it....having done a quick google search, it seems that this is quite a contentious issue with the P1, i.e. the lack of support for flash video within the native software.

Sorry

AFAIK, this browser (Opera Mini 4 for UIQ) doesn't support Flash - yet... Too bad, I know, but hopefully Opera Mobile 9.5 will be included in some future FW-upgrade from via SEUS.

When it comes to using the 'built-in' browser [Opera 8.65 for Symbian OS ("768")], this plays videos from YouTube using the media player in P1i. At least this works fine for me. Anyone having problems with this?!
