BBC is Blackberry Connect software. It gives you push email (blackberry functionality) to your P990i for your corporate or home email accounts
v3.45 is now available which supports the latest firmware R9

Guys I updated to the Latest Firmware yesterday:
Phone:
R9EA001
Bluetooth:
R5A01
Org:
R4A13
CDA:
R4A09
My P990i is Simfree also.
I noticed that when I repy to a SMS that is in my inbox to my friends Moto V3i for some starnge reason tthey get a ? symbol in a box at the begining of their message from me. But this doesnt happen if I create a NEW message. Also I have just tried this on a Nokia Phn and it doesnt happen!
Any ideas?
I havent had any problems since the update and can honestly say that the phone is working quicker and more stable.
Has anyone tried the Video/Photo Camera yet to see if there is any changes??? |

I have a few Q's.....
1) Has anyone successfully updated a Vodafone branded P990i yet from R7?
2) Does SEUS work on Windows Vista? Nothing else does so I can't see SUES working.
3) Is it possible to copy text from opera now and paste it into a text message? I could do this on the P900/P910i but it doesn't work on my P990i
I can't believe they have not fixed the delete messages option with FC !!!!!!
Wouldn't it be great if they had a FW update that turned the crappy 90's green LED blue |

are you sure??? well i just hope /4 will be able to download the new software today and so on....

Mine's /66
*Edit: To all the O2 owners asking, it depends on where your O2 phone was sourced. Most O2 phones are "sim free", ie not branded in any way, just bought by the dealer from the cheapest supplier, so it's really pot luck as to what CDA you have.
My SIM free P990i is a /66 (Dutch) version, for instance, because I bought it right when they first became available.

This is the 'phone' firmware, which deals with GSM, CDMA and not much else.
If you're talking about the guts of the device, you want to discuss the "Organiser" version, which has just gone from R3B01 to R4Axx.
Relatedly, my friend's P990 has been upgraded and he now has much better 3G reception in various places, so I'm guessing the 3G side of things has received attention in this release? Not seen anyone else mention it, so maybe just a coincidence.

It is possible to copy text from opera and paste.. with any fw, just select "settings - select text mode" in opera itself.
I delete messages simply by pressing C button in FC or del button in FO mode.
I appreciate very much that in P990 LED is generally inactive and blank green only when I receive a message or a call.

At the time of purchasing I assumed it was a generic, unbranded/unlocked phone that would be able to accept the worldwide firmware updates, if this is not the case then where would I have had to purchase the phone to get a /1 or /2 version CDA? By the way I purchased the phone over 4 months ago and stopped using after a few days of use because of its unreliability, it kept resetting and crashing which doesn't make for a good business phone.

It may well be unbranded/unlocked. The CDA /xx just says where you bought the phone. /1 was the first version for which the update was available, so shortly you should be able to update yours. Finally, after the update you should be able to use your phone - barring any hardware problems. After the updates, over 2 days now, I haven't had a single reboot or a kern-exec error, with SM pro running my RAM stays between 9.5-10 MB.
P990i: A mistake, a curse and a disgrace So I lowered my expectations and settled for a P1i. I couldn't keep my expectations so low for a long time so now I have an HTC Touch HD |

With the screen shutting itself off to conserve battery, I would really like the LED to blink once in a while so that I know the phone is working. Don't really know but this may be the only mobile phone in the world that shows absolutely no indication that it is active!

Agreed - the only time the LED seems to blink is when it receives a call or text.
And is it my imagination or did the LED on the P910i blink blue during Bluetooth use? It doesn't do this on the P990i. |

On the p800/900/10 (which i still have) there was a blue indicator on the left for bt and the green on the right. Why they left the blue off is anyones guess and yes,it did flash when using bt. |

It's not your imagination....the blue Bluetooth LED on the P910 does in fact blink when it is activated. |

Everybody has its own preferences. As I said before I am very happy for this blink-only-on-message/call LED. For me it's a feature, no joking. |

Yep, agreed 100% ! This blue and green blinking with the p910i was looking like a blinking christmas tree. Unnecessary!

After the update my LED is behaving strange! After reciving and reading messages it still blinks! Annoying as hell! Have to restart to make it go away.
